League scheduling has also changed quite a bit since the RFK days. Sundays are going to be the new normal as long as DC United gets featured on national TV. Wednesdays will be, too, given the compressed schedule, particularly on years when the league more or less shuts down for a couple of weeks in the summer for international tournaments. There's a decent chance DC United will qualify for the 2020 Leagues Cup, which would mean even more weeknight games.
Yes but what prevents Sunday afternoon games, aside from FOX/ESPN time slots. TV rules I get but they need to learn to be flexible too.
I may be mistaken, but I think that there are already midday time slots on Sundays, we're just never placed into them, probably because of the Nats who are only home about half the time.
Saturdays and Sundays have 330, 730 and 1030 national broadcast slots. I think anyone looking at our calendar, at least before considering the Nats impacts on it would have to conclude that we got the short end of it. I guess the good news is that no one is going to want to watch this Rooney-less team next year outside of us.
I don't think I could have less interest in Leagues Cup if I tried. Its of less interest to me than US Open Cup and since I don't have to buy tickets to it, like those joke friendlies they made us buy I'd imagine it will be really sparsely attended, not to mention, with the calendar getting more compressed next year, how will this team ever prioritize these games given the current lack of depth.
If DC United is in Leagues Cup, you'll be getting at least one game, if not more, to it out of your season ticket package.
Apple and oranges. They're a team with ownership worth over $3 billion. I am fairly sure our ownership group would struggle to come up with around 20% of that.
Plus, it's exponentially cheaper to build the damn roof when you're building the damn stadium - it costs way more to rebuild the roof later (plus it's harder to get permits to bring new cranes in, you have to grease all those palms a second time) ........ just stupid dumb poor planning - or intentionally poor planning figuring they could pass those needed improvements to the next ownership group (still cheaper for them than building a stadium from scratch probably).
I was out by the stadium back on September 2 taking photos of the newest sun blocking tarps and cursing about the unpainted rain leaders the entire time.
It would be dumb for the owners to do it now that's why I can see them doing it. I still don't care about a roof and it would take potential money from a team museum. The Crew don't have to worry about a museum because the only history they have is the Crewsters. Crewzers.
If you been to any of the bathrooms you'd know they don't know what a plumber is. Something will happen to the water fountain though.
Hard to figure out what thread to put this in, but I guess this is a start. Should the Nationals win tomorrow, both DC United AND the Nationals will be playing at home on Sunday. I am not sure what time the Nationals would start (playing the Dodgers, I am guessing it'll be an evening start), but you may want to keep this in mind in terms of transportation plans to/from the stadium. I have a feeling that anyone parking in lots that the Nationals use may get their reservations canceled so that Nationals fans can have parking available for the playoff game.
Great. As if Sunday games aren't a pain in my ass enough. Whenever the Nats start first I usually get frozen out of my lot until the lot and sidewalks clear. I expect the same if they start last. The same meaning it will be United fans that get screwed.
You're cute ... The metro is not at all convenient for someone coming from Loudoun County (or really outside of DC itself unless you live next to a station) - maybe in 4 years. Besides, can't bring tailgate beer on the metro, so it's a non-starter
