This It's Hilliard school night there. My daughter and I have tickets through that. We have a section, but don't have seats assigned yet. I assume HCSC isn't the only group they're doing this with.
Well, it isn’t like a national TV audience will see the size of the crowd for this (or any other Crew) home game....[emoji35]
Updating my saga, I finally go ahold of my membership specialist. Apparently nowadays we can't trade in the seats I already have for ones with the rest of my party. I've done that in the past so I'll suggest it be allowed again. She'd only let me buy 4 of the 5 additional tickets I want so I guess I have to go online the moment tickets go on sale to the public and try to buy 1 more seat adjacent to the 4 I got today. At least they are also in 226, just 8 rows back of my regular seats.
I have traded in seats to move by an area I have purchased more seats this year but it was only allowed during one of the approved transfer games (which they really pared down this season.) I am hoping with a full offseason there will be better options for this next year.
Through 8 games this year (47% of our home schedule), we are averaging 12,833/game. This is up 20% from last year, but still the lowest number when compared to the previous four before that. Disappointing but understandable. The two teams that are doing worse than us on an average basis are Colorado (12,690 through 6 games) and Chicago (10,585 through 7 games). No team has played more home games than we have at this point in the season, but 4 others have played 8. SEA: 38,180 LAG: 22,357 NYRB: 15,757 HOU: 14,834 I think it's totally conceivable that we can pass NYRB and HOU when the season is over. Ten teams have played 7 home games: TFC: 24,970 OCSC: 22,856 LAFC: 22,118 VAN: 20,589 DCU: 17,151 SJ: 16,628 PHI: 15,697 FCD: 14,560 NER: 13,519 CHI: 10,585 We will beat Chicago in average, and I think we can beat NER and FCD. We'd have to have an awfully good run of attendance to beat SJ, but it's feasible I suppose unless they sell out too. We'd have to average over 17,435/game to beat them. Which means we'd need to sell out every home game remaining, and have a few come in at a couple grand over capacity. Not gonna happen. Three teams have played 6 home games: ATL: 51,755 SKC: 18,498 COL: 12,690 I think we only beat COL on this list. Of the three teams that have only played 5 homes games: FCC: 27,363 NYC: 21,341 MIN: 19,725 We're not going to catch any of them. Only Montreal has played 4, and they've average 16,728. Probably not going to catch them given the number of home matches remaining for each team and their overall capacity. Portland hasn't played any, but my understanding is they are pretty much sold out for the entire season already. So I think we have a legitimate shot to beat out 6 other teams on attendance by the end of the season. But we have some work to do if so. I still need to check my math on this as I've been compiling each game individually so I need to make sure that a.) I've not missed any home games (see Montreal) and b.) I've got the recorded numbers right. If you see an error, please tell me.
If I remember correctly, it looked like we had some games coming up with pretty decent looking ticket sales thus far
What sort of real data have you seen on ticket sales? Has the club actually said anything (I've missed it, if they have)?
Not any real data- just looking at ticketmaster and available sections, taking into account what rows in various sections have been released as a guideline. But I'm not smart enough to look at real data.
You can ballpark guesses based on this, but it's impossible to know how many seats have been held back at this point in the season. I learned that the hard way after the first few games. Once we started getting into season ticket exchanges, and partial plans, it's just about impossible to know unless you have access to their inventory. Something else I really haven't paid attention to, and it's something we'll have to watch as we get into the meat of the higher attendance season, is whether the FO is going to play the same pricing games the previous regime played. A ticket that cost $38 yesterday is $47 today, etc....
DC does very dynamic pricing. When doing my research for MLS ticket prices, the swings in price between games was wild. Like, double the price wild.
Attendance listed as 13704. Seems about right. A bit disappointing considering the weather was beautiful.
That said, we need to do better. It was a perfect night for a match. ...and I don't live 500 miles away--more like 5.
Our attendance is less than ideal? I had no idea!! Please let’s just be reminded of it every single f’ing week with super shitty, unnecessary shitposts!
I think this week it is notable due to the good weather we had. I did not expect much the first part of the season (excepting the opener, where we did get a good crowd). Now that the weather is better, it's fair to comment. I'd have been ok with 15-16K. Maybe it was The Memorial. Maybe....
DRAMARAMA. Is there really “shitposts” in here every week about the attendance? I think I probably have less than 15 of the 1400 posts in this thread and feel an outsized anger against such posts. Are there really that many more? Given that the interest in this team seems about parallel to OSU Women’s Basketball (maybe we’ll even share a beat writer again!!!) do any of the 28.6% of poll respondents that guessed no additional sections sell out win any fantastic prizes?
