2019 AFC Asian Cup - Third Round

That actually makes sense,
seeding based on the positions of the teams in the 2nd round qualifiers, and then play-off winners to be in the last pot...

 

I hope AFC takes into consideration the round 2 groups in the draw, so countries do not play those that they have already played before. For example, Hong Kong already played Maldives and Bhutan in round 2, so hopefully we get someone different this time.

Kuwait is still suspended right ? they should be disqualified already or what ?

 

They still can do it if they remove the ban before the draw

 

The draw will be held on January 18, 2017.

 

And Tajikistan Federation confirmed the Fifa ranking will be used for the draw.

 

On a quick search, I found nothing on the Tajikistan FF regarding seeding.

 

Seems strange for the AFC to use "FIFA ranking "for deciding who gets into the groups - but then not to use "FIFA" ranking to determine who gets out of them.

Mark Sutcliffe, CEO of HKFA also indicated that FIFA ranking will be used for the draw of ACQ third round, but it seems that the draw date is different from what Tajikistan FA and Kyrgyzstan FA mentioned.

Participation of Kuwait in the AFC Asian Cup 2019 Qualifiers Final Round
Kuwait participated in the Preliminary Qualifier, advancing into the AFC Asian Cup 2019 Qualifiers Final Round after finishing in third position in group G. The AFC Asian Cup 2019 Qualifiers Final Round will be played in a home-and-away format from March 28, 2017 to March 27, 2018.

With FIFA having suspended Kuwait Football Association (KFA) on October 16,2015 from participating in any football activities, the Kuwait national teamis not allowed to take part in the AFC Asian Cup 2019 Qualifiers Final Round.

With the draw for the AFC Asian Cup 2019 Qualifiers Final Round scheduled to take place on January 18, 2017, the Competitions Committee recommended that it was important – as was the case with the AFC Futsal Championship and AFC U-16 Championship in 2016 – to establish the position of Kuwait at least a month before the draw.

It was, therefore, agreed that if Kuwait were still suspended on December 18, 2016, they will not be eligible to compete in the Asian Cup 2019 Qualifiers Final Round.

Acc. to this tweet, the draw is on Jan. 18.

 

So Kuwait got 5 extra days to sort their problems out. I think they won't get their suspension lifted anytime soon..

Are we sure that the people doing this haven't confused MAS (Malaysia) with MMR (Myanmar). Given that both have slightly odd terms, and the FIFA rankings would have them reversed suggests the lists provided earlier in this thread have confused these two countries.
