Nice. Not a small investment, considering the foreigner minimum wage, for a club near the relegation zone. He should get plenty of playtime.

I think he'll develop in the end as DM rather than CB.

Better for Japan imo. Hasebe's departure from Japan means that Japan need someone who can step up in this position. He and Misao can vie for this position.

He played for the first time by coming on as a sub in the 82nd minute vs Emmen. Zwolle won 3-0.

Second start in a row for Nakayama.

Jaap Stam, Zwolle’s manager, just used Nakayama twice as a starter after the team secured their place in next season’s top division and no more had to face the mathematical risk of falling down to the relegation zone.

Let’s hope that during the off-season Nakayama will get enough time to further adapt with the team and Stam’s tactics, and Nakayama will be a starter next season. My concern here is that his expected call-up to the Copa America will affect his off-season preparation with the team.

In overall, I think it was a good first half season in Europe, given he is playing in defensive positions -which are quite critical- especially with his team not sure if they can escape the relegation or not.
Playing under a legendary defender like Stam will surely help him grow, while it is confirming that the manager is giving him playing time when possible, unlike Itakura’s situation.

Stam is going anyway to Feyenoord, but yes, six months of settling to Holland are perfectly normal.
