A very good keeper. Has he declined - why did RB make him available?

Luis Robles tells Sirius XMFC that he asked the Red Bulls to decline his contract option as he knew he wasn't going to play going forward and wanted best opportunity to get a new club

I was also wondering about Robles--if Turner hadn't emerged for us I would have wanted the Revs to be all over a guy like that. Not that I follow the Red Bulls closely, but do they have a young keeper that they think will be a lot better than Robles? Seems a bit risky, especially when you already have a #1 keeper like him.

Remember how Cody Cropper was going to be the next Matt Reis? Funny how things don't always work out like you plan. Now I know what scenario we are all thinking of that would be really hilarious...

Looking at their gk stats, Robles started 33 games for them last year.

I guess it was a combination of his age and salary - I was shocked to see that he is 35 (and made just under $500K).

Done deal on SKC getting Pulido.

Interesting to see that at least two of the lower salary teams in MLS have made some rather large moves the last calendar year or so. Are teams finally figuring out they just can't do it on the cheap anymore?

The $9.5 million @SportingKC is reported to have spent on Pulido is more than double the amount it previously spent on transfer fees in its entire 24 years.

Its possible they saw the ROI that the Revs had and how they went from cellar to playoffs in a few month and decided they need to follow suit

Raise your hand if you ever thought you'd hear a story of the Revs doing something with positive results on the field, and other teams following the lead...

Seems like a natural location for expansion.

Having lived in Raleigh and been an original season ticket holder for the USL club; I would argue that they picked the wrong city. I know the club had plans for a downtown stadium already drawn up and were just waiting on word from MLS before moving forward.

Can that "raise" have a minus sign attached to it...? ;)

Maybe they are trying to market to the Lawn Guylin crowd.

Playing in baseball stadiums aside, from a scheduling point of view, they used to play 2-3 home games in a row while the Yankees were away. Baseball homestands are often 10 days to 2 weeks, so there was a very uneven H/A balance. At least when the Yanks are home, the Mets are away, so they can play over in Queens.

Still, not a good look for them, especially if they want to make a claim as New York's "authentic" team! :p I can only imagine the birthing of small, bovine mammals, considering the reaction when they left the foul ball net up for their playoff game last year!
