A few points about our Europa League Fixtures:

    Matchday 1 - Thursday, 19 September @ Frankfurt
    Matchday 2 - Thursday, 3 October v. Standard Liege
    Matchday 3 - Thursday, 24 October v. Vitoria
    Matchday 4 - Thursday, 6/7 November @ Vitoria
    Matchday 5 - Thursday, 28 November v. Frankfurt
    Matchday 6 - Thursday, 12 December @ Standard Liege

    • Matchday 2 comes after a Monday night game at Man United. Assuming we win at Frankfurt, I'd expect 9-10 changes for this one.
    • Matchday 5 falls on Thanksgiving in the US. While I love the idea of watching a football game with a round ball on Thanksgiving for a change, I'll need to do some research to figure out how to watch Europa League games at home this season!
    • Matchday 6 is right before we host City, a game which has not been officially scheduled as of yet. Let's hope we've taken care of business by then, and can rest our best for City.

So what does the squad look like for the Europa League?

    ...............Martinelli
    Saka..........ESR...........Nelson
    ..........Willock.....Burton
    Kola...Chambers...Medley...AMN
    ................Martinez

Mavropanos could play if he was ever healthy. Same should probably be said for ESR. Could move Chambers around to DM or RB. Will probably see Mustafi play somewhere, unfortunately. Might see more of a back 3, moving Burton or ESR to the bench.

I would expect several changes, but not 11.

Based on last season it was more like 6-7.

We could see fewer week 1 at Frankfurt, given they made things difficult for Chelsea in the semi-finals last season. Not sure it's the same side, but the winner of this week 1 fixture will control the group.

Wenger rotated his teams completely for the Europa League two years ago. Emery rotated less, but I attribute that to him trying to install his system and get to know the players he was working with. I think he rotates more this year.

Are you assuming Holding displaces one of Luiz or Sokratis as a premier league starter?

I feel like Holding should be ready to start making appearances in the first team after the international break.

Does anybody think he will (not should) displace Sokratis or Luiz as a starter before the end of October?

Personally, I think one of those bozos will get a sending off and make it easy, but curious what everyone else thinks.

Next Thurs 9/9 would've caught me by surprise. Thanks Jake.

Edit: Wait a minute! Next Thurs is 9/12 AND it's interlull! So I looked it up and we play Frankfurt on 9/19.

Don’t know how long he’ll take to be fully game fit, but yes, Holdini will take one of Luiz/Sokratis’ spots.

People have been complaining about our defense, and rightfully so. But in my mind we have 3 starters still out. It's gonna get better.

No problem. FYI, I find that you can edit your own posts for quite a few days after you originally post them. Obviously there's a bit of ettiquette involved in not completely rewriting posts after the fact, but it's certainly very handy for fixing typos, etc.

Its the midfield that puts them under extra pressure, coupled with their own individual mistakes, recipe for disasters.

Holdini will still become starter because he’s a much cooler head.

Interesting description, you could probably write hard boiled Crime Fiction novels, but I have no idea who you are referring to.
