Nicolas Benezet to Colorado is now official. $50K of GAM to TFC, and another $50K of GAM if he starts 75% of the games this year. https://www.coloradorapids.com/post/2020/01/14/colorado-rapids-acquire-french-winger-nicolas-benezet No official word on transfer fee but reports were $500K and that its a 2-years plus a team option year contract (which leads me to believe that team option years aren't going away as part of the CBA talks).
Rapids officially ad Namli as a DP attacking mid on a 2 year loan with option to buy https://www.coloradorapids.com/post...g-midfielder-younes-namli-designated-player-0
For the third straight day the Rapids make a signing announcement. Braian Galvan from Colon has been signed to a pre-contract and will join the team in the July window. This is a free transfer and there's no mention of him needing to take up a youth DP slot because of it. https://www.coloradorapids.com/post...19-year-old-argentinian-winger-braian-galva-n
I can confirm this. Minnesota United is sending $150,000 in GAM in 2020 and $50,000 in TAM in 2021 to LAFC for the rights to Tyler Miller, per sources. https://t.co/eMKvcRUPji— Paul Tenorio (@PaulTenorio) January 16, 2020
Personally I think this is Colon trying to save face after dropping the ball, but in service of having all the news here: 1217953082853576704 is not a valid tweet id
Sports Illustrated: Javier “Chicharito” Hernández has signed a contract with LA Galaxy that will make him MLS’s highest-paid player. @CH14_ https://t.co/lozmzAxr6V— Subscribe to GrantWahl.com (@GrantWahl) January 17, 2020
Reviewing the salaries from last year, the top three are off the board (Zlatan and Schweinsteiger left, Bradley resigned at a lower level), so that leaves him beating Jozy's $4.9 million salary which sounds about right for someone with that much marketability in the region.
Sounds like it's not yet official. Cory Burke was listed as a trialist when he played the second half for St. Pölten against second-division club Horn today. St. Pölten won the friendly 4-0; no goals for Burke.
Talk about a late Friday news dump to try and bury in the weekend clutter: https://www.fccincinnati.com/post/2020/01/17/fc-cincy-place-adi-hague-waivers
Kyle Beckerman signed a new contract with RSL, and this will be his 14th with the club (21st overall).
When was the last time this happened in MLS? #NERevs roster news: The New England Revolution have announced the contract of defender Samba Camara is void after his P-1 Visa application was denied.— New England Revolution (@NERevolution) January 20, 2020 And I'm not talking about the Burke situation since that happened after he was playing here. I'm mean a transfer falling apart after it was agreed because of a visa not being granted.
Didn't the Red Bulls have a player who failed to get a P-1 due to some prior conviction of some sort?
Luke Rodgers, but that was after he had already played with them for a year. Edit: I also see he had issues in 2010 that prevented him from joining the Red Bulls mid-season. They were able to get it cleared up enough for him to get a work visa and he ended up joining the team in 2011, before he had the work visa rejected (again) prior to 2012.
Ricky Irrabaren got barred from admission to the US for a year in 97 for some visa violation. He then came back in 98 and played for the Crew.
While we all know this is done, I'd say an article interviewing him about his move and pictures of him wearing a jersey pretty much seal the deal. Should be introduced officially today. https://www.latimes.com/sports/socc...y-javier-chicharito-hernandez-first-interview

Holy hell. Atlanta fans are gonna be pissed. Team better damn well deliver this season or the knives will come out griping about the team pulling a Marlins-like fire sale. Off-season has played out like a PR nightmare for this team.
Two moves for FCD just announced. One coming and one going. (Hayes going) THe big deal that Dan Hunt just announced is the signing of Pachuca forward Franco Jara. He refers to it as the largest deal in FCD history. Right now Jara is coming in the summer, but they're working on getting him earlier if possible. Dan Hunt just announced Franco Jara signing. Arrive summer.— 3rd Degree (@3rdDegreeNet) January 21, 2020
Relax, your team has been at the top of the league in its' first three seasons. Your FO knows what it is doing. Players don't usually stay with a team more then 3 years anymore. Throw in the leagues' budget and roster rules.....teams can't keep EVERY player on roster, nor can they keep every player happy with their salary.
This Atlanta deal and this image: Just reinforces to me that it is much harder in MLS to be an existing team that has to deal with raises and bad legacy contracts and all that jazz then it is to just show up as an expansion team with mountains of extra expansion cash. It's a real competitive advantage to expansion teams that really go for it. Atlanta is now basically a normal MLS team and that leads to the above image due to MLS' complex roster and cap rules. As a galaxy fan, after our good seasons, we used to lose 1-2 contributing players a year just because of cap considerations and it was frustrating. And its another reason why MLS teams go into CCL with one arm tied behind their back.
I'm not abandoning the team or anything but this move seems completely unfounded and from a marketing and team-building perspective "pound foolish." Atlanta wasn't tipping the scale with regard to team wages and had already cleared a lot off their books this off-season, and it's not like Gressel was expecting 7 figures. Gressel was a classic glue guy and fan favorite. He worked really well with Martinez and could play in multiple positions. Always came to applaud the supporters after each match and was among the hardest workers the team had. If they have essentially traded him for new (and more expensive) Brooks Lennon then that means Lennon had better come good. Losing Nagbe I can take given the guy wanted to go for a year. No hard feelings there. But on top of losing him Atlanta has now voluntarily shipped LGP, Gressel, and a host of key bench players. Some of that can be down to money but surely not all. Especially for a team that has Atlanta's money and alleged intent to mimic Seattle as a so-called super club. If the team comes good then all will be forgiven, and I know players come and go. If Atlanta struggles this season a whole lot of the ire will focus on breaking up a roster that delivered 2 trophies and a conference finals. Time for FdB to earn his stripes.
Loons fans today... Good news! We picked up a midfielder from FC Dallas! Bad news! Apparently the spelling of Pomykal has been changed to H-A-Y-E-S...
