What this team is missing is one of these unsung heroes:

Too much silky shit. We need aggression. Barrios should be our main DMF.

Not that it matters, but he died few months ago (Massing Benjamin).

Anyway I agree. The reason that we lost to Brazil 4 years ago was because wqe gave them too much respect. we should've jump on them since the beginning just like Germany did and this would probably prevent the early goal we conceded and needed to ran after them the whole match. I hope we learn our lessen but just like Colombia, let's pass the group stage first. I have nightmares from 1994 & 1998.

Barrios level is very high. HOWEVER, watch the game vs Argentina WCQ where his aggression also gave too many advantages. Messi was playing 'cat and mouse' with him and Barrios thought he could adapt but he didnt. So it's not all aggression. Sanchez is pretty aggressive as well. Not as quick as Barrios but he's not "La Roca" for anything. Abel as well can be quite aggressive but he's very smart at choosing when to slow the play. Barrios just needs to fine tune that part of his game which I think will come with a bit more time/maturity. After this year, I would love to see him make the leap to Europe.

We were playing a 4321 too right? Barrios thrives when he plays as the anchor man, as does Sanchez. So while Sanchez is aggressive and all, he disappointed me in that Brazil game, he didn't mark Thiago Silva in the first goal and was very wobbly all around. Sanchez is a player that I will defend forever and really respect his role in the current football market, but I just can't forget that game.

Barrios to me is an all-round better player than Sanchez, he just hasn't had the time to adjust to the team yet, and Sanchez is incredibly effective in this role, even if some of you think that he is the shittiest passer of all time. He does what he is asked and does it well.

    This was the formation:

Ospina; Arias, D. Sánchez, Murillo, Balanta; Sánchez, Torres, Barrios, James, Cuadrado y Falcao

3 f...King DMF's, and it's not like they are known as box to box. No wonder why we played like shit that game. Pekerman completely botched it in this game.

Safe to say everyone who played today will play in Russia? I mean not just because I don’t like him but Abel was really really bad. The other 10 guys sealed their ticket.

Barrios, Lerma, Izquerido put their feet in the door. Quintero to me didn’t do anything and to take Cardona out he will have to have an insane 2 months.

So happy and greatful he didn’t start Cristian Zapata. Hopefully next game he doesn’t start Abel. Lerma from the start with this team would be great

Kind of reminded me of the first versions of Winning 11 or Soccer Pro when they didn't have the right to use the player names, so Colombia would have names like Esprella, Valdemar, Escobedo, Anguita and Mandragol.

I think Davison could play there in a pinch, wish that Pekerman didn't hate Jeison because if it came down to it Mina/Jeison/Sanchez with Mojica on the left could be a back 4 that shifts to a back 3 in possession.

My issue with this comment is

    Lerma > the other CMs
Sanchez > all our other CBs

Let’s play them out of positon so Pekermans favorite who shouldn’t be on the NT can get playing time.

It is difficult for me to argue much with this 23. I like it.
Although I do think Borja may have screwed the pooch and someone like Bacca could take his place because of it.

My question is, if Abel is not up to the task, how do we replace him? I feel that if Cardona and/or Cuadrado are available, James can drop back a lot, like he's doing at Bayern and be the link up, letting Cardona and Cuadrado command the attack..

    ------------Roca
    ------Uribe------------
    -----------------James
    Cuadrado--------------Cardona/Izquierdo/Muriel
    --------------Falcao

If Cuadrado is not available, then James would play on the right, but I feel that this lineup is less balanced since James will drift a lot to the middle, and it will require a lot of forward movement from Arias....

    ------------Roca
    ------------------Uribe
    James--------Cardona--------Izquierdo/Muriel
    --------------Falcao

if neither is in (Cuadrado and Cardona),

I can see Pekerman playing 4-1-2-1-2, but that is a rather defensive line up...

    ---------------Roca
    Lerma----------------Uribe
    ---------------James
    ---------------------Izquierdo/Muriel
    --------------Falcao

Those seem to be the options. The last one I think is the least likely but you never know.

He seems to have a lot of trust in Abel and he may just put him out there and hope he wakes up. We could also revert back to a formation similar to what we saw most of qualifying and the Centenario assuming Cuadrado is healthy:

    --------------Sanchez------Aguilar-------

    ------Cuadrado-----Cardona-------James

    -----------------------#9----------------------

I like Aguilar buy I think Uribe and Barrios have added good bite...

I like how all three Uribe and Aguilar and Sánchez played.. That should be our starting lineup in the knock out rounds.. With James and Cuadrado on the wings

I think Quintero should be on the 30 list that get to train with the team prior to the world cup and so should Gio but neither should go. I'd rather leave that spot for Izquierdo and Chara

And I'd even not take Lerma

    And would try a 5-4-1
    With Cristian Zapata, Davison, Murillo
With cuadrado and fabra as wing backs and Uribe, Aguilar and la roca behind James. And if more offense is needed Cardona or Yimmi Chara or Izquierdo can be subbed in for either Uribe or Aguilar

    For me

    Ospina
    Vargas
    José Cuadrado

    Mina
    Oscar Murillo
    Davison
    Zapata
    Fabra
    Arias
    Mojica

    Sánchez
    Aguilar
    Barrios
    Uribe

    James
    Cuadrado
    Cardona
    Chara
    Muriel

    Falcao
    Borja
    Duvan

For me the last spot is between Bacca which he is way out in front for all the goals he's scored in qualifiers and then followed by Quintero because when he plays for Colombia he scores or assists and then Lerma and Gio Moreno.

It's all about who starts scoring and making assists.. If Bacca starts tallying he goes but if he doesn't and Quintero does even if Gio does too I'd take Quintero and if none of them score more than 2 goals or assists but Lerma has been starting i take Lerma. Bacca i think is having a decline and Quintero is getting better
