You might as well put money on Gio going, that dude never gets it right. He seems like an annoying nerd, if true, ain't no one giving him no scoop.
First off, I apologize about the intrusion, normally I don't post outside of BSK, but I thought I would share some comments made by your manager Osorio regarding our injured key player Kwon Chang-hoon. Secondly, I don't know where to post this so I'll just put it here (A translation I made from the original Korean article). https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/the-official-2018-korea-nt-thread-r.2080096/page-41 Mexico national team's manager Osorio feels very unfortunate for the loss of Kwon Chang-hoon since he's the player that Osorio wanted to see at the WC the most. Osorio "First of all, I would like to take this opportunity to say something to Korea, I would like to say something about the player that suffered an injury from your team. The Kwon Chang-hoon that I saw was a very good player, and he particularly had a very good skill set at utilizing his left foot in various methods, so it's very unfortunate for everyone to not be able to see him at the World Cup. A very unfortunate event." "I saw him cry, and the very fact that a healthy young man like him cried meant how much he wanted to prepare for the World Cup to play against Mexico, it was very hard for me to see him shed tears." "I love the competition and competition is the most meaningful when you meet each other when you're at the best condition. Kwon Chang-hoon's injury is very unfortunate, because we wanted meet a Korean team that was in the best condition with his inclusion." Lip service or not, hats off to Osorio for comments and he's done a good job at analyzing our team, or so I would like to think.
As much as I’ve disliked Osorio, I think it’s fair to say that I’m excited about the World Cup and will fully get behind the team regardless of who he selects. I know we’re in a difficult group, but anything is possible and I hope Osorio gets things right to give us the best possible chance of having a successful World Cup. I hope he’s gone after Russia, but I also hope he surprises us all just because we’ve suffered so much frustration under this cabrón. All in all, I’m going to force myself to be optimistic and be like those babosos in England every World Cup thinking we’re going to the whole damn tournament jajaja
This is pretty much the sentiment of many, myself included, and while it contributes to the on-going problem of our team being strictly a money grab, as opposed to a serious project with serious goals to accomplish, i.e., winning a World Cup, what else are we to do every 4 years? The FMF is rich, and will continue to line its pockets, because we support the mediocre product on the field and don't demand more. In 2006, I said I didn't care about the World Cup. And I watched the Iran game and pumped my fist, but knew it was just 1 game against a weaker team. Then the Angola and Portugal matches happened, and I laughed. We advanced, anyway, to an elimination match with Argentina. There I thought, hey, who knows. Maybe they surprise me. Como siempre. Ni maiz. Maxi. I cried. Y eso que no me importo. Segun.
The lineup for this game on the 2nd should be the actual starting lineup in Russia or at least incredibly close. There's a rumor that Gio will be starting.
For all the sh*t I give Gio. He actually hustled when he entered vs Wales. Dude knows he might not make it and gave a decent performance imo
I hope he is cut regardless, as a lesson to the younger guys to thrive to be the best, not throw your career away from mls money and status, etc
Somewhat agree but..... while I did not like him going to MLS I cant fault him for seeking a pay day. The problem is that he’s been sucking even in MLS lately.
Guarantee the payday would have still been there at 33. It’s not like he was being paid in peanuts in Europe, certainly enough to make a living. And for that matter, he could have made quite a bit going to Mexico and staying competitive
There is no guarantee that at 33 he would have gotten a payday. What if he got a career ending injury ? He’s SOL. Pro athletes have a very short and sometimes precarious careeer. If it’s sure money now or maybe money later it’s hard to resist.
Let me see... Ibra had a career ending injury for most professionals at age 34, now he's receiving a payday in the MLS without being as effective. I'm sure Gio could've at that age as well, just given his popularity and nationality.
Perhaps, though if I were looking for safety I wouldn’t choose a country which has found comfort in its overt racism, who can’t keep their kids safe from school shooters, etc
Sure. But you're really going to argue Gio's safety in the US compared to Mexico? Don't be dense, man.
Who besides cabanas and romano have a history of being messed with? Honest question. I just saw a video of a pro basketball player jumped by the cops for parking in three parking spots. It’s just the start from the militarization of the police here
