since there already is a section for mexico and concacaf probably gets discussed there, this is for everyone else. anyways... qualifiers start up again tomorrow, and with many of the groups around the half way point, there are some teams that have hope (some misleading) , and some that could start feeling pressure with a bad result. paraguay plays ecuador in ascuncion, then brazil in sao paulo... they'd need to win both and have some help to have argentina and colombia drop points, so they're likely fuked. on the other hand, colombia has a tough match up with ecuador in quito , and they hope they can jump either chile or argentina; whoever loses mos points between the two. if colombia were to win both games they'd almost certainly be in 4th place (and with some help from paraguay, maaayyybe 3rd) with one of chile/argentina in sixth. uefa qualifiers always end up interesting because you get a couple groups with one or two decent teams that miss out on the world cup, and a couple groups that get a bunch of crap. group c is interesting right now. germany is running away with it, and northern ireland is in second. with norway and czech republic in the group, third place on goal differential is... azerbaijan ... they're tied in points with northern ireland, buuutt they play germany next and their goal differential will fall further. and czech republic plays san marino, so they'll jump ahead of azerbaijan, and northern ireland gets norway at home, so the gap will grow and azerbaijan will likely drop to 4th. that then sets up the next game where northern ireland goes to baku to play azerbaijan... in group I, ukraine and croatia play each other, so one or both will drop points, while iceland plays kosovo, so iceland will probably jump to second.... many people on the board live in cities with more people than iceland. but remember, something something athletes. group A is the group that got the super short stick.. france has ten points and plays luxembourg (which interestingly enough, the three losses they have are one by two goals and one by one ) who's been surprisingly feisty, sweden plays belarus (which beside the tie against france, have been crap ) and netherlands play bulgaria. the group will probably end with france with 13, and sweden and netherlands with 10. there's always one little team that plays spoiler though... denmark losing 4-0 to armenia last cycle cost them a chance at the playoff.
Australia may need to win out... Haven't checked their table but I vaguely recall them dropping points where they shouldn't have.
Brazil have pretty much one foot over Russia... They have steamrolled over their rivals easily. Tite has restored confidence to the players and they're conveying that on the pitch... Damn! Three points or less separate 5 different teams. The Guaranis and to a lesser extent the Peruvians still have a chance. Someone might have GD bite them in the ass when it comes to losing a spot it is that close.
Disgusting 4 game suspension. It needed to have been a lifetime ban. You just can't do that and get away with only a slap on the wrist. FIFA should be ashamed.
smfh, this freaking rat face fück feigns an injury as to not be carded after he almost broke some Argie duse's leg.
Tacuara Cardozo still alive, holy shit!. Didn't expect that Paraguayan victory. Wow. CONMEBOL are without a doubt the best qualifiers in the world...
I mentioned it on another thread that conmebol qualifiers are intense. Peru held on for dear life and pulled a point from the bombonera. Our region is cakewalk comparatively.
