Armchair Analyst: 2018 Mock SuperDraft v1.0 January 10, 2018, 12:18PM EST Matthew Doyle His predictions for the Revs: 8: Mo Adams - Defensive midfield - Syracuse (GA) 9. Jon Gallagher - FORWARD - Notre Dame
The two can't be related. That would imply we were prepared to source a key 2018 contributor from the draft!
It doesn't matter what the revs are planning to do. The author stated "The Revs lack a true defensive midfielder."
Just asked all knowing google, and was told that there are only 3 fitness tests: Speed Test (30-meter dash) Agility Test (5-10-5 shuttle) Power Test (vertical jump) Here are the top results from 2013-2017.
That was just Doyle's prediction, nothing to do with what the Revs are/were thinking. Most of these mock drafts are very simplistic: they look at a team's projected starting lineups/depth charts and look at the obvious weaknesses. But, they are doing it at a time when rosters are in major flux. Of course the Revs needed a dmid - but whether they were really planning to fill that need in the draft is a much bigger question. Realistically, any serious hole in the starting lineup is unlikely to be filled with a draft pick. Sometimes teams get lucky that way, but if you're counting on the draft to fill a major need ...
This. The days when you might find a guy in the draft who would be able to step in and contribute this year are over. Maybe a top-5 pick, but if a team is looking to fill a positional need with a college draft pick (rather than signing an established pro from a good league), they have a lot more problems than that. It seems to me the best strategy is to go the "best available athlete" route, regardless of position. If you have a decent development system (cough cough) and you bring him along right, well, maybe he might be ready to step in to replace today's starter in a couple of years.
Just to accentuate the points above, I looked at the 22 first-round picks from last year. Only 3 played in more than half of their club's regular season games last year: #1 Abu Danladi, MIN (27 GP) #7 Jakob Nerwinski, VAN (19 GP) #8 Julian Gressel, ATL (32 GP) There were five who never played one minute (including the #2 overall pick). Only 7 (all in the top 9 picks) played in as many as 10 games.

Mueller's a quality attacking player that thrived in a direct style at Wisconsin, so he'll need to be able to connect play in order to hit the ground running in MLS. 9 Tristan Blackmon Pacific D 6-2 - It's a long way from California to New England, but the Revolution could take a look at Blackmon, a right back with a good motor.
yet another http://draftutopia.com/2018mlsmockdraft.html 8. Edward Opoku, F, Virginia 9. Tristan Blackmon, D, Pacific and another http://isnsoccer.com/news/2018/01/07/2018-mls-mock-draft/ 8. New England Revolution – Wyatt Omsberg, Dartmouth – This is a new season and a fresh start for the Revs. Jay Heaps is out. Brad Friedel is in. It would be surprising if New England addressed the offensive side of the ball as they have a plethora of options even after the trade of Kei Kamara. Krisztian Nezmeth, Lee Nguyen, Diego Fagundez, Teal Bunbury, and Juan Agudelo are all interesting attack-minded players. Even with the recent acquisition of Gabriel Somi, the Revolution look a little thin at the back. Omsberg brings a massive frame to the NE backline and would look great if paired with Andrew Farrell. 9. New England Revolution – Mason Toye, Forward, Indiana – It doesn’t hurt to look for the next great striker to lead the Revs to glory. Kamara had much success over his decorated career, but it didn’t seem like New England was the greatest fit. Toye is one of the draft’s top strikers even after just one season at IU. His strong skill set proves that the 10 goals and the 2017 Big Ten Freshman of the Year honor was no fluke. and one more https://www.collegesoccernews.com/index.php/articles/1140-2018-mock-draft 8 New England Revolution Mo Adams* Midfielder Syracuse Brad Friedel selects GA defensive midfielder, Mo Adams. The sophomore midfielder is a ball winner and good distributor who is similar to Scott Caldwell. 9 New England Revolution Brian White Forward Duke The Revs opt for Blue Devil senior White, a complete package as a forward. White is a great finisher with pace to get in behind and quality hold up play He chance challenge for minutes immediately.
It's so much easier to scout and find players when they all show up to the same location. Think of all the travel expenses that we saved and they speak the same language. Wow, it's just fantastic, not like Atlanta, Orlando, and other teams that actually go to South America looking for players. Those fools.

https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2018/01/16/mls-combine-day-2-whose-superdraft-stock-rose-and-fell Stock Down Joao Moutinho - Could very well still be the No. 1 pick at the Superdraft, but this was not a good day for the Portuguese defender. The question mark around Moutinho, who is a technical player with a high soccer IQ, is his position at the next level. After playing center back at Akron, he has said he believes left back is his true position. Given the chance to play there on Monday, he didn’t look fully comfortable either going forward or defending out wide.
I bet he's dogging it so that his draft position will drop, so that he can get drafted by the Revs - the team in the US he always wanted to play for, due to huge amount of press the Revs no doubt get in Portugal thanks to their strategic partnership with Sporting. You know, like how Garoppolo only left so that he could get some playing experience, and then he'll up and leave whatever team he's with to return to the Pats when Brady retires. A totally reasonable supposition.
I hope we draft and sign this guy only for the endless confusion sure to result with Brian Wright, Forward, UVM.
