Wout Van Aert makes the podium at the Strade Bianche. It's rather amazing how well cyclocrossers can transition to the road. I guess it helps if it's a race that suits them well like the Strade Bianche or Paris-Roubaix. Still doesn't mean it isn't very impressive indeed.
Also, can we now admit that the Strade Bianche is a much more beautiful race that the snooze-fest that most editions of Milan-San Remo turn into?
Cycle-X racers race at a much higher heart rate, wheels turning all the time, not really in a pack (for 1/5 the time of a road race). Its not surprising that they bring this strength to a one day classic.
