SiberianThunderT had a spectacular weekend, gaining 8 out of a possible 12 points. That is really good. stubifier and FawcettFan14 came in next with 6 points each. The pesky robot, however, continues to chug along.
Mmm, there is a typo in the chart: you wrote ORL 3 NJ 0 instead of ORL 3 NJ 2. I see that you anyway used the correct result to calculate scores, since I get at least 1 point for my daring 1-2 prediction. Disastrous week for me anyway: i tried to predict an upset, but it was the wrong one! Edit: oh, ok, you caught the typo while I was typing! I won't delete my post anyway.
The robot has a stone cold metalllic exoskeleton and no heart. But even so we humans will not be bowed, we will love, and we will dance!
I spend a good bit of time thinking about using data specifically and relying on science more generally and the frequency with which we humans choose to make decisions via another route. One of the things I've been thinking is that humans love having fun (thus our love of sport) and being creative and trying to find something better than what's been -- as compared to simply relying on a computer program or predicting 1-1 for every game. When the season's over, hopefully with contributions from some of you of your thoughts about competing with the robot, I'll try to write something intelligent about this.
Meanwhile, I'll just make my prediction for this week, although I am not sure about injury report, nor about the consequence of the recent "big trade": HOU 2 POR 1 (Will Huerta and Comeau be on the pitch right away? I am not sure, but I am going to predict a mild upset against the reigning champions anyway ) SEA 1 NC 0 (Now that NC have lost their first game, the floodgates are open: it can happen again! ) WAS 1 ORL 3 (I liked a lot Banini for Spirit, in the latest weeks, but I liked a lot more Marta. Marta, Morgan and Leroux are now delivering and I get the feeling they're going to keep doing so) CHI 3 UTA 2 (the robot would never predict such risky stuff as a 3-2 score! I don't care! Not sure if Press will play right away for Utah; anyway I see the dynamic duo of Nagasato and Kerr, with the former always providing at least 2-3 assists per game to the latter, as the winners by the slightest margin)
So, in what point categories is each competitor scoring, or not scoring, points? Here's a detailed breakdown based on games through June 16:
Predictions for upcoming games: Houston 1 v Portland 2 Seattle 1 v North Carolina 2 Washington 1 v Orlando 2 Chicago 1 v Utah 1 (but almost a toss-up with 2-2)
I read last night (Can't remember where right now) that there was a gentleman's agreement between Chicago and Utah that those involved in this weeks trade will not play on Saturday in Chicago or something like that. Not sure if it is true though.
I guess @MRAD12 partly expressed his opinions in the 2018 player moves thread and partly in the 2018 Chicago Red Stars thread. Anyway, I guess those are the places where this discussion about this subject should be kept, not to clog the prediction thread with off-topic stuff.
