This seems like something the soapbox guys would very much have an inside scoop on. However, their only story in the last 24 hours is about the Monarchs...
I just hope it’s not something serious or embarrassing to him or the club. Maybe it’s just the usual I’ve had enough of Dell Loy. Either way it sucks to lose him. I met him once and we talked about soccer for 25 minutes. Good dude.
I give Trey a lot of shit but the dude was a guy you could always count on caring about his job. Losing him sucks
Didn't ever meet Trey personally. I know he irritated me on a fairly consistent basis if he was the Twitter guy. So, don't know how to feel about this.
still nothing on the soapbox. This is the same place that will drop like 5 stories in a day about a possible rumor or funny musing so.... something is off here.
I worked with Trey before season one to set up stuff for the Loyalists and Rocky Mountain Cup. He was fantastic to work with, and he's greeted me warmly and respectfully every time I've interacted with him since then. I can only imagine that if he "resigned" there is something uncomfortable behind this, but no judgment on my end. I wish him the best.
Trey was pretty directly responsible for the 5 years of beat coverage of RSL that I did. So, you can all blame him. He always tried to control the message for sure, but that's just a sign he was doing his job well, but I have nothing but respect for him. He's extremely well thought of around the league and had a past history in the NBA. I'm assuming (hoping) he is moving on to bigger and better things.
4 RSL/Monarchs make Ives' top 50 players in the WC22 pool: #21 - Justin Glad #36 - Brooks Lennon #42 - Richie Ledezma #46 - Sebastian Soto I was surprised Taylor Booth wasn't on the list. Any other folks left off that you'd expect to be there?
Danny Acosta has gone from the next USMNT left back to barely making RSL's gameday 18. That's a pretty sad year for him.
So we've got the 3rd most difficult strength-of-schedule ranking for the rest of the season. As you'd expect, Portland, Atlanta, New England and San Jose all have average to easy rankings. It'll be fun to see if we step up.
there are a lot of variables here. SOS should not be examined as chances alone. Current form obviously has a big impact. As does congestion, injuries, weather, etc. Regardless, this points out just how hard the road is for RSL and how, using this metric, how much easier it is for Sea/Pdx/LAFC etc.
I knew it. We are doing poorly because it rained on us sometime this year and will affect the last few games of the season.
Early in season one, I think, there was a charity auction that included a dinner with two players. For those of you who remember, DadOf6 won that. He then asked folks to chip in because he could bring a few folks with him. My wife and I went. It was dinner with Trey, another FO guy I don't remember, Medhi Balouchy and Andy Williams. It was a lot of fun, though I was way out of my depth having no soccer knowledge. Learned a lot about Medhi, which was very cool. Trey was engaged in it all, but also somewhat distracted by his phone for much of it. That was before many folks had much awareness of 'nose in the phone' during dinner as a social faux pas. That is, it was weird, but not such a thing that folks had decided it was undermining the structure of society . Good times. I hope Trey is moving to bigger and better things. I can imagine his personality and Dear Leader's not mixing well.
DadOf6 was a good member and poster here. Although I never fully agreed with his defenses of referees I always appreciated his insight.
I miss that guy. I was the asshole who came in thinking I knew everything and was thoroughly humbled by his knowledge.
I miss DadOf6's contributions to the forum as well . I met him at a watch party once and he was great to sit and talk with. Great insight and perspective from a ref's point of view that I didn't always consider when making comments.
At this point, Booth may have actually done himself a lot of damage by going to Bayern before his immigration situation was handled. He's going on about 8 months without a competitive game, other than youth national team appearances.
Some interesting nuggets: RSL's game in Atlanta was the 3rd highest attended soccer game that weekend - a few thousand less than ManU and Barcelona, but 5K higher than Real Madrid and 10K higher than Bayern Beckerman leads RSL in the FIFA's newest skill rankings - Highest rankings for US players are Brooks and Pulisic. Highest MLS-based are Toronto tandem Bradley and Altidore and LAFC's Nguyen and Fielhaber From FIFA15 : Any of those rankings surprise anyone else?
