Schedule released today: Revolution Announce 2018 Preseason Schedule December 15, 2017, 11:28AM EST revolutionsoccer.net
Welp.... a barebones, functional, thoroughly cheap, preseason.... not that there's anything wrong with it.. Hope that's because they're saving the firepower for the actual season..... Hope I win the Power Ball.
It would be great if MLS had rhyme or reason to it's preseason. Florida/AZ like baseball. A grapefruit league type thing and a destination for fans.
Yeah maybe two locations like baseball, one east and one west. Just would be good to have some structure. The DDC is a start; maybe they do the DDC and a tourney at Disney in Orlando. Would be fun to draw foreign teams in their spring preseason like Malmo.
The main departure is two different locales this year, plus more games against non-MLS teams. Both changes are positive IMO. Also looks like less time in Foxboro, which is also a good thing.
Can't say that I pay any attention to what other teams do, what makes the Revs preseason bare-bones and cheap? What do other teams do that the Revs don't?
The Revs, Chicago Fire and Portland; who just signed their coach, have not signed a player in the off season. The Revs traded 1 and didn't pick up options or resign 9 players. By my count we have about 14 players on the roster with a litttle over 1 month to pre-season. What's the game day roster - 18 players? We're close!!
They started the off-season with 5 under contract, picked up the option on 9 more, for a total of 14. They then traded Kamara (13). They re-signed four players (Bunbury, Farrell, Knighton and Wright (17). So, once they announce the Somi signing, they will be at 18. Merry Christmas!

It's very early, but it seems like Friedel is trying to install a hard-nosed attitude that is more like what he experienced in the UK than one normally finds in MLS. Clearly the Revs need a lot more than that, but if that mirrors the attitude that Jermaine Jones brought to the team, I'm all for it.
Not surprisingly, no mention of Nguyen. Bradenton trip offers Revs an opportunity to build towards something bigger January 27, 2018, 6:14PM EST Jeff Lemieux tl;dr version: Gabriel Somi is scheduled to arrive in Bradenton on Saturday night. Wilfried Zahibo is still awaiting his U.S. P1-Visa. New England will run through double sessions again on Sunday and Monday before dialing it back with a single session on Tuesday, ahead of Wednesday’s preseason opener against the New York Red Bulls. Németh puts tumultuous 2017 behind him: “I hope this is going to be my season” January 27, 2018, 3:28PM EST Jeff Lemieux Gabriel Somi ready for “a huge adventure” as he joins Brad Friedel’s Revolution January 28, 2018, 4:34PM EST Jeff Lemieux
Thanks I was wondering when we would start to see something about the actual preseason - since we unfortunately do not have any non-Revs employee reporters who might write about it.
Wilfried Zahibo is still awaiting his U.S. P1-Visa. I'd imagine Pennilla is still waiting on his P1 as well
