27 of his 30 non-pk goals were on his first touch?! That is a truly amazing stat that I doubt has been duplicated. So in 2 years and 53 starts only 3 times has any combination of the following occurred: a) Kamara set up a shot with a touch or two and then scored. This includes taking the ball down off his chest. b) He dribbled the ball and then scored. This includes breakaway goals. Add since he only averaged 2.5 assists over those two seasons it appears he very seldom passes the ball in the box. Bottom line: Kamara is a unicorn who shoots the ball on his first touch 90% of the time it gets to him in or near the box. Seems effective but will be interesting to watch.
Doesn't look like this one will be streamed... from lagalaxy.com: CARSON, Calif. – The LA Galaxy head up the California coast to Santa Barbara this week in the latest step in their preseason preparations. Sigi Schmid’s squad hosts Fresno FC at Harder Stadium on the campus of UC Santa Barbara Thursday evening. The match will be the Galaxy’s first meeting with the newly founded USL club. “We want to try to push guys to at least 75 minutes this week. That’s the reason for the two games this week. Getting away to Santa Barbara gives us a final time to get the group together and let them spend some time together. LA Galaxy vs. Fresno FC BUY TICKETS! With a match against a USL side during the week and an MLS opponent days later, Schmid intends to rotate his squad and could play a younger lineup on Thursday. “That’s something that we’re still talking about. We’ll probably play a little more of the guys who played in the second half [of the New York City FC game] in the Fresno game, while the guys who started the match will play against San Jose.”
Lineup : Brian Sylvestre; Emrah Klimenta, Michael Ciani, Tomas Hilliard-Arce, Dave Romney; Servando Carrasco, Jonathan dos Santos, Baggio Hasidic; Giovani dos Santos, Chris Pontius, Sebastian Lletget Subs : David Bingham, Perry Kitchen, Ashley Cole, Daniel Steres, Romain Alessandrini, Ola Kamara, Ariel Lassiter, Jorgen Skjelvik, Julian Buscher (trialist), Emmanuel Boateng, Rolf Feltscher, Cordell Cato (trialist), Nathan Shultz (Draftee), Justin Vom Steeg (G2), Ethan Zubak (G2), Ulysses Llanez (Academy), Alex Mendez (Academy), Joao Pedro So a 4-3-3? Very unusual from the Galaxy but I can see Sigi trying to bring a little bit of tactical flexibility here. Other interesting note : Buscher and Cato trialing with the team.
1-1 at halftime. Goal by Lletget after a scramble in the box following a corner. The periscope link for those interested : https://www.pscp.tv/w/1RDxldXnpvMxL
3-1 victory. Goals from Lletget, Pontius and Hilliard-Arce. Interesting note : all three goals came from corner kicks. THA is now our leading goal scorer for this preseason. Game against the Quakes on Saturday.
I wonder if we can take anything from Gio starting with the 2nd string? Does anyone know how long Lletget played?
Just watching now. They took out both Dos Santos's fairly early (for Zubak and Pedro) so probably doesn't mean anything. Lassiter on the bench, which is good news, Jamieson is not, which is not.
I think Gio & Jona playing the first 20 minutes or so was just to appease the crowd. The one that I thought more interesting is Ciani who started and played into the 2nd half with most of the other starters, meaning he likely won't start against SJ. If I remember correctly, LLeget played the first 45 and into the 2nd half, so that was a good sign for him.

Corner of the Galaxy had an interesting hypothesis. GDS and JDS will be gone for the World Cup so our Saturday team may be our World Cup lineup.
havent seen this posted... we know where BJIV has been. out for concussion. not good. http://www.latimes.com/sports/soccer/la-sp-galaxy-jamieson-concussions-20180216-story.html edit: whoops. it was already posted in the Zlatan 2018 Rumor and Roster Moves Thread. Carry on.
I notice the game today is at the new Great Park Stadium, which looks like a very nice (though tiny) soccer specific stadium. Looks like it has room to be expanded to a standard MLS size, though not sure about permitting issues. Got me thinking. How many on here would favor a Galaxy move to OC? Perhaps the LA Galaxy of OC? Or perhaps OCSC of USL will eventually make the jump to MLS and be the 3rd LA area team.
@2:34 not sure why it won't play at a cued spot... My ultimate dream is to get a stadium built on the west corner of the Dodger Stadium parking lot.
I hope the team doesn't let Gio get away with being lackadaisical this season. Looks like it's going to be a tough season for San Jose. Not a lot quality in midfield or attack besides Wondo's poaching.
This OC stadium is very intimate. Nice LA goal. Bad, bad error in the backfield that led to SJ's goal.
Yikes. Catastrophe from LA conceding two goals in a matter of minutes. Both started with terrible passes in attacking half from Feltcher failing to find Alessandrini. Then quick counters the other way. The third goal in particular, feltcher’s effort to get back was awful and better effort could have stopped the play. I’m concerned with our new right back.
