So it sounds like Beckham United has bought the web names for

Miami Freedom

I guess it is better than United or FC or SC or FussBall but may Lord Guillermo have mercy on their soul.

 

Elton John and WTT might have an infringement claim...

Seriously, I can't really see how that team name relates to Miami in any way, shape, or form....

 

A lot of boats from Cuba washed up on the beaches of Miami with passengers in search of freedom.

 

Why not Miami Boat People then. I gather we have a currently unused logo that might work for them.....

 

I saw they bought Miami Freedom United, too. Please Lord let it be Miami Freedom United.

 

Oh man. That sounds like a 90s era team that anybody else today would be trying to rebrand away from.

I thought Inter Miami was a good name and it had a lot of momentum and popularity as a fan choice. I cant see David Beckham being associated with anything that doesn't sound elite or reek of prestige.

 

For a while, due to bank buyouts, the Philadelphia Flyers and Sixers were playing in the First Union Center (in the late 1990s-early 2000s)....

 

They could take a page from hockey and be Freedom United of Miami.

Although, in today's social justice world, I can see someone crying foul over that. "They're profitting off the misery of a whole group of people."

Remember...there were complaints over the original name of Houston's team.

 

And in the City of Brotherly Love, aka Philadelphia, there wasn't a more-appropriate name.

Unless he desperately wanted to go home, this seems like a lateral move at best. Ligue Un is generally better than MLS but trading New York for Nice is a step down after he was mentioned for boss at Arsenal.

 

Nice is a real shithole for sure




He's unlikely to get the chance to coach a huge European team with only MLS on his head coaching resume. A successful 2 year stint at Nice and he can go anywhere in the world.

 

I'm sure life's good on the Riviera but his neighbors in Monaco are a much bigger team.

 

So? Maybe financially, but not culturally.

The last guy to coach Nice did alright for himself, Favre just went to Dortmund.

 

Well, Favre had already made his mark in Germany taking an almost certainly relegated team to the Champions League the season after he saved them from relegation.

We'll see how long he lasts in Dortmund. My guess is a couple brilliant years and then a crash and burn.

 

Kreis turned out to be kinda shit. He lucked out with RSL for his first job. Was shit at NYCFC and was shit in Orlando. He's tactically naive and stubborn beyond belief. Watch Precourt hire him though for 2019 when Berhalter goes to the US job.
