When you croak your kids will be burdened with disposing of all your "treasures". Feel good or bad about that as it suits you, but real items like tickets are better than opening a box full of obsolete storage media containing electronic facsimiles. I came across 5 1/4 HD (ha ha) floppies, bernoulli media, 8 mm cassettes and a 9600' reel of Ampex 28 track tape in my "archives". I feel good thinking that if the earth is still spinning a few thousand years hence some archaeologist can figure it out and get his/her PhD from decoding my junk. Just you hope that after all that time they don't toss your stash saying "poor guy, that team was in last place for decades
I even save the nearly receipt style tickets that get printed when I enter for events at the Capital One Arena.
*raises hand* I am still smarter than my phone To afford a smart phone these days, I'd need to drop my season tix - can't afford both
US soccer is about to lose 18 year old Jonathan Gonzalez to Mexico. Thanks Bruce. Thanks Dave Sarachan Thanks u20 coach. I know you guys love Eryk Williamson, but how in the ******** does be and other college kids get called to youth team and an 18 year old who is playing well in a league that is higher quality than our own domestic league, doesn't?
NASL moving to a fall - spring schedule. Death rattle. Won't even field teams for the "scheduled" August 1st start.
The answer is, "that depends". They have 5 current teams with losing Indy. There are two new teams coming on line out in California, according to Wiki, but one based in San Diego may not be ready to go til 2019. Adding those two would give them all of 7 teams.
Which they for some reason call "an international calendar schedule". Of course as I understand it, all is dependent on them winning an injunction over being properly denied their Div II status by USSF. As with most things NASL, I consider this a media stunt.
Im so confused. So USL is no longer officially div 2? What will NASL get if they win their case? Law can force us soccer to make them div 2.?
NASL is just throwing their Final dying punches. Don’t think there is one club there operating in the black. Even if USSF grants them Div 1 status, it will still collapse. Let basic economics run its course and let the USSF begin it’s overhaul.
NYCFC's Champions League spot rescinded. https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2017...hampions-league-qualifiers-are-determined-mls
I am 92% positive that this could have been made a ton more simple/understandable. MLS qualifiers - 2019 CCL Sporting KC (2017 U.S. Open Cup winner) Team with best aggregate record over the 2017 and 2018 MLS regular seasons* 2018 MLS Cup winner 2018 Open Cup winner (if an MLS team wins) 2018 Canadian Championship winner (if Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver win) *=This berth was originally designated for the 2017 MLS Cup winner. However, since that team, Toronto FC, may only qualify for the 2019 CCL as the winner of the 2018 Canadian Championship, the berth is re-assigned to the US-based team with the best aggregate record over the 2017 and 2018 MLS seasons. Why not just 2017 MLS Cup loser (if US team)?
******** all teams not DC United, obviously ...... but "team finishing second-to-last" hardly seems fair
So basically, only for MLS clubs are allowed as US/Canadian entrants into the CCL - right? If a lower level club wins the USSF Open cup (or the Canadian Cup), then they aren't good enough to get in?
I'm 99% sure there is no restriction. I remember some debate on what would happen if FC Cincinnati won the Open Cup last year, and got the MLS bid. Would the MLS franchise be able to assume their birth. The Canadian Championship includes Edmonton and the sole purpose of it is to determine the CCL entrant. Puerto Rico Islanders used to play in the CCL as the Puerto Rican entrant, despite being an NASL member.
Whoever wins the Open Cup is in (that's how the only team is qualified now; The Wiz); could even have been Christos FC (edit: dumb comment, indicating my inability to read, removed)
Quick check of the calendar to make sure it isn't April 1st and I'm still wondering. If true, good luck getting the band back together
SBI has the story as well. If this is a hoax, it is well done. If true, LD is trolling Le Grande Orange big time in his tweet.
ESPN is reporting it too, so it would be a REALLY well done hoax if he's not coming out of retirement. But all signs seem to point to it being legit.
