The site was down for a while. I was certain the red jersey wasn't the big news. I thought the rumor/what the fans wanted was something Metro inspired. I guess it's going to be one of those years.
I like the red top just fine and it goes with their current trend and slogan ("New York is Red!") but that was a BIT of a let down after the teaser. Ever heard of queer baiting? This was Metro-baiting. Toss the old identity around, end with a chant that tips off what it will really look like and then release a nice jersey that wasn't quite what the fans were hoping for, probably because they cant get away with something like that now that Atlanta has that look. What might have been really interesting is if they added REALLY dark blue or outright black stripes on the side in place of white, which would better echo the metrostars look without aping the Five Stripes current identify. Still really good, I might even buy it but oh what could have been.
New year, new look. 😏More to come later this month. #RCTID pic.twitter.com/MqYY3OcqfH— Portland Timbers (@TimbersFC) January 1, 2018
NE's definitely looks like a downgrade, although, their last one was good looking enough that it'd have been hard to top. With the white shorts, I doubt they'll look much different on TV/from the stands, so that's a plus. RBNY was, at least for me, one of the few teams that had distinct enough road kits to be immediately recognizable. I don't think the red shirt is a bad look for them or anything, but it'll be weird not seeing them in blue and yellow when they have to wear their secondaries.
I enjoy the new all red kit from Red Bull. Not feeling the revs new one and I hate the lighter color Union logo.
Black and Yellow is one of the best uni combos there is and I really like the the checkered pattern they use. The kit is fine, its just another all black kit. It could use a little more yellow.
