I can't believe how often I'm voting "win" anymore. I also can't believe how garbage the large majority of teams are in the MLS. I honestly thought our league was getting better, but, sheesh, it seems most teams are just terrible.
They are, the league standard is just also getting better. This year's Union team would dominate MLS from five years ago.
This just feels like a game that Orlando will catch the Union at the tail end of a tough week. The New England game was a physical grind. Wednesday against DC will be an intense game played in oppressive heat and humidity. Saturday night will also be played in hot and muggy conditions. Yes, the Union should beat Orlando, however, I just feel that this will be one of the only games Orlando wins the rest of the season.
Between DC & Orlando, there is no reason 6 points should be out of the question. Anything less than 4 points would be seen, IMO, as a small step backwards.
The last thing they should do is come out Saturday playing for a draw. We never finished a season on a high note before. Now is not the time to go conservative.
100% agree... honestly the recent road form going back to the Accam point stealer in Chicago... (even the rotated Portland game) .. seems to suggest the days of playing for a draw on the road may be over. In the past you could clearly see they were a-okay with leaving points on the table... it feels different this year.
I don't think they were ok with it, I think they weren't capable of coming away with those road points.
Did you see how exhausted the DC players looked after about the 80th minute last night? That's how the Union players might look on Saturday night. Does anyone know whether the Union are coming back to Philly before flying to Orlando? I would hope that they are flying from DC to Orlando today.
Orlando is awful. We are....competent. I had the DC match as the L and OC as the W. They slap Orlando and build momentum for the USOC match. That DC win has me revising them to a 4th place 50 point finish. Still win first round, but tough to see them beating ATL or RB home and home.
I remember Sugardaddy a few years ago (I think it's when Big Earn had just been hired) saying that statistically speaking it's better to go for broke and try to take 3 (with the risk of coming away with 0), rather than bunkering in and going for a tie. It does seem like this is the first time they've tried (or have been capable of trying).
Definitely playing well enough to hit that 50 mark. Just not sure the Crew's schedule is rough enough, and they may edge us out for 4th. The game against them, though, will probably be the decider for that spot. ETA: I don't think we lose this match, but I'd hate to see it happen. You get a bad break at home against Montreal and drop points there, and now you have to go to Seattle and play a tough SKC team at home just days before you need a full squad for the USOC. I like how well we're playing, but our early season form has still put a lot of pressure on us, despite the current streak.
Orlando is weak. There are points to be had. I want either CJ or Ilsinhio on the wing, and Fafa needs to start over Accam. Sorry Marcus.
International break is looming after this game............dance with the girl you brought to the Prom......no changes
This is a proverbial banana skin match. Hopefully the Union score an early goal to settle themselves and then can keep the ball making Orlando chase the game.
