As it should be. I'll be there. Looking forward to it. This game will be way better than Frankfurt. Side note: Is the bracket officially locked in? Winner of this plays winner of NCFC and DCU?
According to http://thecup.us/2018/04/04/2018-lamar-hunt-us-open-cup-schedule-results/, there will be a new draw on June 7. It is unclear whether that is for home/away for the next round or a completely new draw. Richmond Kickers (USL) at Philadelphia Union (MLS) It’s another first-time matchup between a pair of East Coast teams as the Philadelphia Union will host the Richmond Kickers. The Union have come so close in recent years to lifting the trophy after hosting back-to-back US Open Cup Finals in 2014 and 2015 (falling short against the Seattle Sounders and Sporting Kansas City, respectively). The Union have been taken to penalty kicks six times over the last four years, which, because matches that go to penalty kicks are officially considered a draw, the Union are actually sporting a 10-game unbeaten streak, the second-longest streak of the Modern Era. The Kickers, who won the tournament as an amateur team back in 1995, have had their fair share of success in recent years highlighted by a run to the Semifinals in 2011. They are no stranger to playing MLS teams. The Kickers have played 18 games against MLS opposition, and they advanced five times. http://thecup.us/2018/05/24/2018-us...ourth-round-draw-as-mls-joins-the-tournament/
As I walked out of those losses at RB and the Cup final with SKC, I remember pedantically telling someone,”you know, technically they’re still unbeaten...”, before being beaten with stale pretzels.
Any guesses who the 5 international slots will go to? Also, Curtin said that a Steel player will be called up for the game. Any idea who that will be? Maybe Olivier Mbaizo?
Andy Muenz made a good guess at PSP: McCarthy, Rosenberry, Elliott(I), Marquez, Real, Jones, Medunjanin(I), Herbers(I), Fontana, Accam, Simpson(I). . Bench: McGuire, Gaddis, Trusty, Bedoya, Najem, Ilsinho(I), Sapong.
Looks like our pod for the next draw will definitely be: Philadelphia DC United Red Bull -or- NYCFC ???? Louisville got placed in our pod last draw due to a coin flip, and now that they advanced, they kind of throw a wrench into the next draw as well. I would expect the final team in our pod could be any of the following based on how results go tonight. Louisville City FC FC Cincinnati Columbus Chicago Nashville I don't envy the people who have to decide the geographical groupings. This year's tournament has been tougher than previous years. ETA: FWIW, I like our chances against all of these teams. RBNY/NYCFC are obviously the only ones who I think we'd have a fight on our hands.
Our potential opponents - DCU, NYR, Louisville, Nashville Louisville is more likely as they are farther north from Nashville. Or they throw Chicago in with us and both USL clubs go with Orlando/ATL
That's exactly how I would have created the pods based on last night's results US Soccer for some reason decided to put the USL Clubs with Atlanta, but then switched Chicago & Orlando???? Round of 16 Geographic Groupings: via: https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/20...one-clubs-dominate-2018-open-cup-fourth-round Midwest Region FC Dallas Houston Dynamo Minnesota United FC Sporting Kansas City West Region LA Galaxy Los Angeles FC Portland Timbers Sacramento Republic FC East Region DC United New York Red Bulls Orlando City SC Philadelphia Union Mideast Region Atlanta United FC Chicago Fire Louisville City FC Nashville SC
Fourth Round winners will find out their next opponent at 11 a.m. ET on Thursday, June 7 when U.S. Soccer conducts the Round of 16 Draw, which will reveal the final bracket for the 2018 U.S. Open Cup. The Draw will take place at U.S. Soccer headquarters in Chicago and will be streamed live on ussoccer.com.
I tjont the Chicago/Orlando is due to Louisville and Nashville being closer to Chicago than Orlando. Helps the USL teams with potential away game costs?
Union vs Red Bull --- DCU vs Orlando Winner of game 1 hosts winner of game 2. Union has the opportunity to host two games! Yay!
Pretty good draw. Obviously would have preferred Orlando or DC, but I'll take the home field. Knock out RBNY and I'm liking our odds in the Quarters.
Play hard in the next one to get the win, and you get an extremely favorable Quarterfinal at home vs. DCU/Orlando. I hope the team is looking for some new marble bags!
Not to get ahead of ourselves, but I assume Semis and Finals home field draws will occur at a later date?
The opportunity to be the three-time defending USOC runner up has been dashed against the rocks like an unaware sailor drawn by the Sirens' call.
