[Official] He's finally back! Choi Yong-soo will be returning to FC Seoul, his contract will be up until 2021. First game back in charge will be against Jeju on the 20th. https://sports.v.daum.net/v/20181011094802507
Omg pls leave! Choi Kang-hee told to Sports Seoul that he has received offers from China and is considering his future. #kleague— Korea Football News (@KORFootballNews) October 11, 2018 I hope they get someone foreign. But who?
Finally one good decision from Fc Seoul 🙌— Dejan Damjanovic (@Boske9) October 11, 2018 i had a feeling dejan didnt really like choi yongsu but i guess i was wrong. or maybe he doesnt like him but still have some respect for him
Show some respect to the man who had been ripping apart the league for years now. Even though I don't like his managing style either, it will be hard for anyone who becomes his successor. He has developed several NT level players, made a 40 y/o still being a decent option and won the ACL. He also stuck with the team for several times and now that he has won everything with the club, I think it's the right timing to go. I hope he doesn't take any young Jeonbuk players like KMJ (pretty sure he won't) to China, like CYS did with HJH. Oh and I really like the re-appointment of the eagle. He will bring back FC Seoul to where it belongs.
You right but I have the feeling that he stagnate at Jeonbuk and a new coach with a new playing style would be benific for the club and the league in general. That's why I hope he leaves. About producing talents for KNT...they are in this position beacuse of their own talent or lack of alternative.
It's been mentioned a couple of times before, but I feel like it needs to be mentioned again. It is not Choi Kang-hee or Jeonbuk's responsibility if the other clubs cannot win the championship. People may complain about Choi Kang-hee's tactics, but it just works for Jeonbuk (6 K-League titles, 2 champions league titles, 1 fa cup). Also, I wouldn't be too surprised if he does leave Jeonbuk this offseason. It's been reported that Tianjin will offer him a salary of $6 million USD a year. If he does leave, I'll give Choi Kang-hee 1 year max before he comes back to Korea. The qualities that Choi Kang-hee wants in a player, he will definitely not find it in China. It will be interesting to see who Jeonbuk will bring in as the new manager. The last three managers/caretakers were all mediocre (Lee Heung-sil, Fabio Lefundes, Shin Hong-gi). Hopefully, Jeonbuk doesn't take the cheap route and try to appoint Kim Sang-sik as the new manager.
Beggars can't be choosers. We cannot get any worse right now. I'm hoping that Lee Jae-ha resigning + Choi Yong-soo appointment is the turning point of our season. But, I still can't forgive the dude for leaving us right in the middle of the season back in 2016 when we had a good chance to win both the K-League (only won because Jeonbuk got deducted 9 points) and ACL.
I'm curious who Jeonbuk will appoint. Maybe: - Shin Tae-Yong - Yoon Jung-Hwan (looks like he'll part ways with Cerezo at the end of the season) - an affordable foreign manager - a newbie with Jeonbuk past (assistant coach Kim Sang-Shik? Kim Nam-Il?) - a new face (someone who coaches at university level?) Unlikely: - Hwang Sun-Hong - Seo Jung-Won - Park Hang-Seo - a current K-League manager (Kim Jong-Bu, Nam Ki-Il, Kim Do-Hun, Andersen, etc.) Very unlikely: - Someone from KFA (Hong Myung-Bo, Kim Hak-Bum) - Lee Dong-Gook as player / manager (just joking) - a star manager or former-star-player-turned-manager (too expensive) Can't think of a "likely" manager right now...
I think the returns per dollar invested onto a foreign coach, when graphed (benefit on Y-axis and $$ on X-axis) will appear as a hockey stick. In other words, it's better to go domestic than spend between $800k--1,750k/yr on a not-that-world class foreign coach. For club football, especially a K-league club (even if it's Jeonbuk), is 1.75+ mil salary sustainable? To bring a 6.5/10 foreign coach, I think Jeonbuk needs to spend considerably more money than similar leagues (market exposure, crowd attendance, job opportunities). So why not spend less and bring a 7.5+ domestic coach?
no jeonbuk should hire a foreign staff. jeonbuk is a club that should be blowing away their competitors. they have nearly all of the domestic players available at their disposal. every korean domestic player not playing for suwon or seoul would jump on the next chance to play for the club. no other club in asia can claim to have better player pool to tap into. bring in a competent, experienced staff who are hungry for trophies. winning the league is a given. should make the afc champions league final every season
You have a point there. For the good of Korean football, Jeonbuk should be the one to bring in a competent foreign coach.
That was utter bs. I still believe relegation was the right decision for the case. That's why I am reluctant to give credit to CKH for his achievement at Jeonbuk.
Well, Choi Kang-hee is officially leaving Jeonbuk for Tianjin Quanjian. Was evident that he was gonna leave after the Incheon match where a lot of players/coaching staffs were posting "thank you" messages to Choi Kang-hee on Instagram. https://sports.news.naver.com/kfootball/news/read.nhn?oid=025&aid=0002857928
