If we sign someone (would have to be on a free) to take his international slot, this move is worth around 75-100k in allocation money.

The move is worth free to me just to clear up the slot. Though if we waste it by signing some third division French player I may take that all back.

So maybe enough to cover the roof hole expenditure?

    I don't have a calculator handy...what's 18% of $0?

Nope. I'll get lambasted on this board but I don't want Nogueira back. He was good for us a few years ago. However, by the time he comes back it will have been two and a half years since he played in MLS. And in this stage of the league's life that is a lifetime. If he wasn't able to start for a Ligue 1 team and had to go all the way to the 4th division then I don't think he is fit for MLS anymore.

Uri Rossell was actually playing first division in Portugal when he came back and he has been.....meh. Kristian Nemeth left MLS and when he got back he found himself a fringe player. And Juninho was a rotation player for Chicago when he came back after being mentioned as a possible USMNT player if he got citizenship. The only player to come back and really make a big impact was Fredy Montero and he has been starting for Sporting Lisbon this year. So, sorry, but I want to keep my memories of Nogueria as nice as possible and not see him getting abused weekly.

He actually had negative value when you count his salary.

Better question: Would fans want Noguiera or Bedoya? Seeing as they play the same position, I'd take Bedoya. Could Vinny be used as depth? Yes, though that would take minutes away from Jones. Plus to your point the league has improved by leaps and bounds since he was last here, not to mention he is closer to the wrong side of 30 now.

You want to add Bradley, Altidore, Parkhurst, Klestjan, & Guzan too while you are at it?

Then again............Yuri M, Perry Kitchen, & Brek Shea aren't exactly lighting the league on fire..........Yuri was also transferred out.

You are not wrong, but that was 4 years ago he returned. So he has spent the last few years adapting with the changing of the league (and benefiting from the increased ability of the players around him). Nogueria, like Uri and Juninho, would be up against attacks that are much better than what they were a few years ago.

Yeah but Nogs isn’t primarily a defensive player. He’s more of a pure 8 than Bedoya has been as his replacement. Bedoya does more dirty work to compensate for Medunjanin (who fills a lot of Nogueira’s old passing duties). I think you could pair Nogs with Bedoya instead of Haris and it would be just fine. His game was always about control and intellect rather than athleticism.

A lot of guys who come back and struggle are players in attacking positions that have seen big talent upgrades (hello, Left Back Brek Shea) in the last few years or who relied on physical talents that have either declined or weren’t ever enough to keep up with the new attacking talent that they’re required to deal with. A shuttling midfielder like Nogs isn’t really in either category.

I would love it if Tommy had dental surgery and I could get a few games off from having to hear the same five phrases repeated over and over again.

Say what you will about Tommy's analysis, but "Doop in the ol' onion bag" is pretty original.

Still not looking for good players judging by his Sapong-like goal return.
