Crickets....are there even ANY rumors floating around? Reminds me of 2013.

 

I mean... That's what it is.
It's going to be 2013 all over again.

 

Reading the #cf97 is like Bizarro World e.g. Fire are willing to pay $17 mil transfer fee.

 

For whom?

I fail to understand who the Fire would sign worth that much.

Have the "purse strings" been loosened?

Javier pastore has agreed to personal terms with #cf97 which is good but transfer fee is the only issue

Right now it's between pastore and Fernando Torres. #cf97 would go for the cheaper option in Torres, but still holding out hope for psg to drop their asking price for pastore

At $17 mil, there could be value. But at $23 Mil+ for a 28 year old (Javier Pastore) who will 100% not be sold for more than that? Not sure there is any value or foreseeable profit in this 'move'. What team is going to pay $25+mil transfer fee for a 30 year old MLS player? #cf97

Well I've been complaining about not hearing any rumors and then I hear this and I'm still not excited, only because it is not coming from a credible or verifiable source.....the other rumor I posted before, he has actually tweeted stuff that happened but this person I've never heard of. Now I will say too I don't believe it as that is a lot of money our owner hasn't spent that much money on our teams combined in all the years he has owned the team.....now if he did come that would be awesome haha

 

I sent an email to a friend who works for a nonFire front office. He told me he has heard a Pastore to MLS rumor , it would be a loan deal and not a transfer. He didn't know which club , he also doesn't think it's happening.

 

Does anybody who has watched a preseason game think this has changed at all in the last few weeks?

 

I’d start to love some of those “wants” to “needs”....

That includes first-round choice Jon Bakero, who has failed to impress while getting opportunities to play on both sides of the field and behind the striker. Bakero may benefit more from a stint at Tulsa in lieu of sitting on the bench in Chicago.

And Campbell is out for awhile.

With Nikolic and Bastian, I refuse to think that the Fire will suck.

If DeLeeuw had not been hurt, I would be (relatively) confident that the team would be better than last season.

However, the complete dearth of moves is worrying.
The fact that the first game is 2 weeks away (which is way too friggin' early, by the way), the dearth of moves is frightening.

 

Is that with the trade of Accam or keeping him? If we kept him then I'd probably agree but with us trading him and not replacing the production that really worries me.

 

There is no doubt if Nelson fails to bring in a big time difference maker before too much time has gone by this will be a failure on management's part and mean the fire is going nowhere this season.

 

The Fire are going to be as good if 1) are healthy due to lack of real depth or 2) the health of their opponents.

We rode an early wave of good fortune into a playoff spot last year. At some point, the FO as to see we are more like Colorado with a fluke season here or there than having any real sustained success.

MLS is changing and it's passing our team by. We don't focus on youth and we don't focus on big names. It's why we are where we are.

1) Bastian will be the work horse for the team, again. Until he breaks down.

2) We are worse withouth: Accam, Alvarez and, a bit less, Juninho.

 

We have said that every year (save for last year) since 2010.

 

Maybe we should have just kept Sean Johnson?
