Wow - Senegal should be playing a man short for the rest of the match. Pretty classless behavior there.
I was going to say what a dirty team Senegal was but you beat me to it. Classless is a good word for it.
Our Panamaniacs got pana-crushed. Looked like the Quakes playing every other MLS team. And our very own Godoy caused a silly PK.
In what way? The two WC finals in 1974 and 1978 were with all white players cast. The Feyenoord and Ajax teams that ruled the world 1960ies -1970ies were all white teams. So explain what you mean.
Ruud Gullit- father came from Suriname Frank Rijkaard-father came from Suriname Patrick Kluivert-father from Suriname, mother from Curacao Clarence Seedorf-born in Suriname Edgar Davids-born in Suriname Geoginio Wijnaldum- parents of Afro-Surinamese descent. Nigel De Jong-father of Surinamese descent, mother Indonesian descent. Suriname-former colony of the Netherlands. Curacao-former colony of the Netherlands Indonesia-parts of it were former colony of the Netherlands. That's what I meant.
You're mentioning a minor part of the total number of Orange players. It's more like those players benefitted from the knowledge of the Dutch football community than the other way around. It would be a different case if those countries themselves produced star players and we took the finished products. All the players you mention were in the Dutch system from little pups on. Those countries didnot produce stars and still don't. So no, we didnot profit from them. Those players were the result of the wave of immigrants after the independance of Surinam in november 1975. They didnot bring with them anything of value football wise. Everything they know they learned from the Dutch. They owe to the Dutch soccer history their success, not the other way around. Edit: Where did you get the info Nigel mother is Indonesian? She isnot. Her name is Marja Woldberg, which is a very Dutch name and she looks very Dutch too.
Where they may have learned the game is irrelevant. The only reason they either came from Suriname, or were the offspring of immigrants from Suriname was because the country had been a Dutch colony. And are you really disagreeing with my statement that players like Frank Rijkaard, Clarence Seedorf and Ruud Gullit benefited the Dutch national team? That's all I said. I didn't say anything about their amount of influence in comparison to white Dutch players. And in regards to De Jong's parentage. I just pulled it from his wiki page. "De Jong is of Surinamese-Dutch descent; Surinamese parentage from his father and Dutch and Indonesian from his mother." It doesn't change the fact that his dad is Surinamese.
It's Uruguay 2 The Dopers 0 at the half. I hope nobody is surprised how poorly the Dopers are playing against a quality team.
Russia lost to Uruguay 3-0 today, the third goal suffered after having gone down a man. They will now face the winner of Group A in the Round of 16 on Sunday, July 1st. As of this posting, it will be against either Spain, Portugal or Iran. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
A group so "easy" that Uruguay was always favored to win it and the only question was whether it'd be Russia or Egypt (led by top player Mohammed Salah) joining them in the next round. When? Link, please. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
https://sports.yahoo.com/fifa-knew-...othing-new-investigation-finds-025558754.html Of course FIFA denies it as they are complicit. And Russia's history of doping its athletes doesn't add into it, does it?
We needed him to play well...really well...so someone would be interested in buying his contract and we could be well rid of his inconsistent...but mostly bad...play.
Godoy has looked bad, especially against England. Not only the laughably clumsy and violent takedown of Kane in the box, but he totally muffed a great opportunity to score in the first few minutes of the match. Embarrassing for himself, his country, and his club. I wish they hadn't mentioned that he plays for the Quakes.
I know, right? I cringed when they said that and I should be feeling pride when our team is mentioned globally.
I wonder how his WC performance is going to affect him mentally. Will he play even worse when he comes back?
