The past is just the past, Stielike says Perhaps the most pleasing aspect of the performance was how hungry the host was. Ruthlessness in attack is not usually a word associated with South Korea, a team that can be frustrating to watch going forward, but the team kept going forward in search of more goals and there could have been more than eight. It was hard on Laos who conducted themselves with grace with the team's coach Steve Darby thanking the Korea Football Association for top-notch hospitality. It's time to forget that. There are some ghosts that need to be exorcized in Beirut. Korea has played three World Cup qualifiers there this century and has failed to win any. The standout was the first meeting in the Lebanon capital in 2011 when the Taeguk Warriors were poor and lost 2-1. It cost Cho Kwang-rae his job. A return around 18 months later ended in a 1-1 tie that was fortunate in the sense that Kim Chi-woo's equalizer came with the last kick of a game, but it was one that the visitors dominated. Those memories will give Lebanon hope but also ensure that Korea does not take the game too lightly. "The past is just the past," said Korea head coach Uli Stielike. "In the past year or so, there has been nothing that has disappointed me with this team." http://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/news/sports/2015/09/600_186294.html
lol, so apparently Stielike wasn't shy of slamming the conditions of the training ground(s) in Lebanon: 슈틸리케 감독은 "훈련장 상태를 보면 어떻게 이런 잔디 상태에서 선수들이 훈련할 수 있는지 모를 정도"라며 "이것은 레바논 축구를 위해 하는 말"이라고 강한 어조로 말했다. 그는 "레바논의 어린 선수들이 좋은 환경에서 축구를 하고 발전하려면 레바논 축구가 이런 부분을 더 신경 써야 할 것"이라고 조언했다. For those who don't understand Korean, Stielike basically took a jab at the Lebanese Football Association by stating that the training ground/facility is in terrible condition, and that this is one of the areas that they need to focus more on in order to provide a better training ground for the young players for a better development. Perhaps they should hire '잔디남' to fix the pitch problems.
This isn't like Iran providing us with a crummy training facility/pitch... Lebanon is just broken at this point... Lebanon is in such serious political deadlock that they haven't been able to elect a president in over a year. And on top of that, there's hasn't been trash removal for months because of the political infighting. Personally, I feel that it wasa bit tone deaf to complain about pitch/facility condition when that country cannot even offer basic services and is on the verge of some really bad socio-political events potentially happening... The KFA could have avoided all of these issues and increased player safety by just paying extra to set up mini-training camp somewhere else in the region like the UAE and flew in for just the match... What grass? I bet all we see tomorrow will be dirt and sand tomorrow...
True, there's not much to do in terms of trying to fix up your footballing environment when you have bigger issues in your country to deal with first. Therefore, FIFA should've done a better job at setting the venue for Lebanon's Home matches elsewhere like they did with Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Myanmar.
This. Lebanon, unfortunately, has a lot of other things to deal with that matter a lot more than football. It's actually incredible that we're still playing the WCQ in Beirut given the state of the country (not dangerous, just not necessarily super stable atm). Also, I'm back guys
"@LebaneseScouser: I predict a 0-0 FT score for today as I believe no human can hit the target in such climatic conditions. #Lebanon #Korea"
Don't think the match is playable in this condition. صباحو pic.twitter.com/DWgc6PUh4y— KN (@KN1897) September 8, 2015 Lebanon vs S.Korea today pic.twitter.com/7gTr2aGmXE— KN (@KN1897) September 8, 2015
Lineup: SUK Hyun Jun KOO Ja Cheol ... KI Sung Yong ... KWON Chang Hoon ... LEE Chung Yong JEONG Woo Young KIM Jin Su ... KIM Young Kwon ... KWAK Tae Hwi ... JANG Hyun Soo KIM Seung Kyu
I really wonder if KJC will truly act as a wing or if it just means that Kim JS will push forward so often that he'd pretty much act as a LW instead.
