Alternatives: Ji would've been a perfect utility winger when deploying Son as lone striker, but sadly he was dumped by Shin Tae-yong.
I'm not counting on it, Ko Yo-han would be the better option at DM, but then again we'll have to risk our leaky RB with Lee Yong, to which I can't stop questioning on why Choi Chul-soon was dropped. There's only so much we can go about with other formations considering the likes of Kim Min-jae, Yeom Ki-hun, Kwon Chang-hoon, Lee Keun-ho, Kim jin-su were injured, whilst god even knows why Suk, Ji, Lee Chang-min weren't even selected.
I swear, Shin Tae-yong better not have Son Heung-min drop all the way back to defend when he should be freely roaming up top. Idiot asks Pochettino on how to utilize Son, has him defend against a slow, poor, bunkering Swedish side and wonders why we had 0 shots on target.
Korea 2, Mexico 0 People seem to forget that Sweden has one of the best defenses in all of Europe, and has contained world class offenses such as Italy, France, Denmark, Netherlands, etc. When combined with their physical advantage, I am not too troubled by the fact that the Koreans struggled to deliver any shots on goal (even a slight skill advantage can be significantly propounded when combined with a size advantage) When the Koreans realize that the Mexican defense is not as difficult to unlock, I believe they will play with the confidence and sense of relief/assurance they need to perform to the best of their abilities, and obtain a favorable result. Furthermore, the addition of Lee Seung Woo, and his tenacity, can really complicate things for the Mexican defense, in a manner they wouldn't expect from scouting the Sweden game. I could seriously picture their defense asking themselves, "Who the F*&K is this little pitbull, and where did he come from?!?" Plus, minor unexpected shake-ups in formation and strategy can make a MAJOR difference, just ask Washington football, which was ranked #5 going into a match against an uncelebrated Arizona State. After the huge upset, Washington whined and moaned about having to "unfairly" deal with formations they didn't see previously on tape, lol! On a related note, I believe that a German victory over Sweden is FAR from a given, and I really wouldn't be too shocked to see their elimination tomorrow. In fact, that would be fantastic, as Germany would go into game 3 with a dejected attitude. Finally, remember the 2002 Gold Cup, when Koreans had no doubt that their team was in the worst shape ever, after having lost to the United States, as well as a friendly to L.A. Galaxy? Who did Korea bounce back to beat and eliminate from the tourney...El Tri!
Hi there BSK, Despite the odds and the things which had been happening in the last months with the team, still I keep faith that at least Korea can pull a victory. So here I am ready to watch the second match in few hours from now. Like many comments that precede me, I am very impressed by CHW's performance, although I must say that it did not make me feel very comfortable with VAR against KMW, but that's the way it is, anyway. About the formations I also agree with a 4-4-2 as is time to play it safe and not to use experiments when a victory is needed. I like the idea to accompany LSW with SHM. Although beyond that analysis, I hope none in the backlines incur an error which could grant unwanted penalties, red cards or free kicks as in previous opportunities, and so I can not say more. I will wait for the match and keep cheering for the team. Btw don't forget to check out the multimedia section of the forum as like the previous game I will do my best to upload it to the forum. After a week of ups and downs, I hope to get something to rejoice. And before going back to sleep I share with you this song 'Meco's Fantasy'. As it is what the team needs more at this moment and as already mentioned in this forum, that energy boost to bounce back and to have something to play in the last match of the group stage. Fighting!
Don't ask too much, STY don't understand the meaning of the word "Pressing" nor the word "midfield". He also as a problem distinguish JHS from Nesta, but that's another story.
why the fck is deploying him as a wingback even a thing? He sucks ass at defending... He sucked ass doing it at spurs, and he sucked ass doing it vs sweden. Even pochettino realized he fcking sucks as a wb...
Their frustration is palpable in this video. Most of the WC02 squad members must be suffering from acid reflux watching a reject like STY bumble about cluelessly in the world cup.
