An honest question, cause I don't know. The LA game showed that seats were only available in sections 209 and 229. Then I went back to check 5 minutes later and only 229 is available. Is it really selling out because of Dom or is it a marketing trick?
There’s probably some games being played by the FO to launch some ticket package for the Galaxy game that to get tickets you agree to buy other games in a package. Until last week, the Galaxy were no longer a draw as a road team in MLS anymore so it’s doubtful advance sales are that good. Because the Dynamo FO can’t actually sell its own players to the fans, they use Zlatan instead as a sales tool.
Apparently the Dynamo may be requiring the Galaxy game be purchased as part of a package only. Completely unsurprised, team can’t sell its own players http://www.reddit.com/r/dynamo/comments/8a5e8a/dynamo_tickets/
From my homework, that seems to be the case. Can't decide if it is a genius way to sell tix to other games, or short sighted in that it is going to piss people off.
As an aside, it is bordering on pathetic that the three game combo pack - which is Toronto, LAG and NYCFC - is being marketed as "come see the stars"; as in "come see other team's stars because we have nobody we can market around".
Preach on!!! It’s like Brener and FO are trying to maximize their revenues on the backs of the other owners’ investments. We are probably more like the Marlins
In some ways Brener does fund a portion of Zlatan, at least indirectly. The problem now is between DPs and team-funded TAM, other owners spend real money outside of the single entity pot and the Dynamo won’t spend as much.
https://www.houstondynamo.com/post/...eatures-houston-dynamo-cf-monterrey-moneygram Season ticket holders have this game included. The game is in a bit of a gap in the Dynamo schedule with Houston at Kansas City on June 23 and then hosting LAFC on Tuesday, July 3. There is no World Cup game on that day either with the Round of 16 starting the next day.
