I really want to return the "favor" to ATL. 4-1 thump. I was there in ATL they played us. Cringeworthy bandwagon fans who had no idea what was going on half the time, they went just to clap! lol
Schedule to be released at 12:30 today - anyone want to bet the Dynamo somehow miraculously got the good fortune of not having any Astros conflicts in 2018 even though they have “no control” over the schedule? (As opposed to the 5 or 6 conflicts in 2016 that the team claimed were “unavoidable” - translation: we didn’t give a crap about incoveniencing our fans)
Early information on the schedule. Houston will play Dallas three times again this year. They will be the Dynamo's only three-time opponent this year. Home--and-away against everyone else in the West and one game against each Eastern Conference team. Saturday, July 21 - Houston v. Dallas Thursday, August 23 - Houston v. Dallas Saturday, September 1 - Dallas v. Houston

I would have lost my bet - 1 current conflict on September 15th with Astros. They both play same day on July 7th but 3:00 Astros and 8:00 Dynamo. So 1 conflict - which given all of the hurdles presented in 2016 as an excuse still seems incredibly “lucky” for the Dynamo in 2018

BTW, to show what the soccer world thinks of the Dynamo as a draw and our 2018 outlook, we were conference finalists and get only 1 English-language national TV game.
I am thinking the orange stripe pattern behind the picture on the schedule link is a hint at the new away jersey like the chevrons were two years ago.
Could be. It would work either as a horizontal or vertical stripe. New England has a new primary kit with a vertical stripe. Pretty boring to me but imagine that in black with a vertical orange stripe like the one in the schedule release.

I'm just going to continue to put the preseason stuff into this thread. I don't think we need threads for each of the preseason games. The 2nd game is down there against the RGV Toros on Saturday, February 3. They are selling tickets to that game. https://hebparkrgv.com/event/rgv-fc-toros-vs-houston-dynamo/

The March 17 game at DC United now has a location and time. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...t-maryland-soccerplex/?utm_term=.6044674c5ceb The game will be at the main stadium at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Germantown, MD. Capacity is expected to be about 5,200. The game will be at 1:30 pm ET DC United often uses this stadium for U.S. Open Cup games.
So on St. Paddy's Day, versus Houston, old rival and playoff contender from last season, and in a State like Maryland that should have remotely decent weather for people to go out and celebrate at bars, pubs for a sport often associated with Irish culture, the game is moved to the Open Cup site. Ok. Get that the new stadium and perhaps our own desires had to be respected but this is twice where and East Coast team has moved their home game to a secondary venue. With NYC it was an attendance killer with reports of little promoting of the event. I trust DCU with their FO and better run organization will promote this fixture better.
Probably not but is it that big of a deal? Steven Goff of Washington Post had an article on this a few weeks ago and most applicable DC area venues couldn’t accommodate this match on that date and the league wouldn’t let them fully backload Home games at Audi Field. They are all about opening up the new stadium and these games are mostly a nuisance to get thru until they open up the new venue. And realistically, Dynamo games are not real attendance drivers for other teams in MLS. NYCFC was just Yankees having priority and it happened to be the Dynamo game date. Do you think the Dynamo would have done anything different? They’d probably try to play at Carl Lewis Track Stadium or in College Station - like they did years ago!!!
Normally I would agree but our club just signed two respected El Salvadorian players and if there is another market that Sallies will turn out for their National Team players it really is the D.C. market. When Raul Diaz Arce played there in the 90's DCU had tremendous guanaco support in the stands just cuz of him alone. Correct. I would actually look to move the games if we got stuck out like this to the Berry Center up in Cypress or Katy's new multimillion dollar complex. Places where the youth market is very strong for the sport and perhaps a match in anger in their backyard would move the needle for such a community to get more attached to Houston Dynamo brand.
MLS Live is no more. Out of market MLS games are apparently moving to the new ESPN+ streaming service. ESPN+ will be $5 a month once it gets going later this year. Until then games may be streaming at MLSsoccer.com https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...e-is-said-to-gain-exclusive-pro-soccer-rights
A followup from MLS. They make it sound like MLS Live will be continuing but now accessible via ESPN+. They also confirm that MLS Live will be accessible via the MLSsoccer website until ESPN+ starts up. I'm taking this as a good sign that the features of MLS Live will continue to be available. https://www.mlssoccer.com/.../mls-live-be-added-espn...
MLS Live will be free until ESPN+ starts up but you have to have an account. https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2018/03/02/how-watch-out-market-mls-matches-2018 Also, according to the current link, Dynamo games on KUBE will not be blacked out in Houston on MLS Live. We'll see if that changes but that's what it says for now. National TV games, like the opener, will still be blacked out.
