Actually Chilean player I would most like to see at WWC is... Christiane Endler! It's a shame that only 2-3 teams from CONMEBOL will qualify. So, please, give me a recap of the situation, because I got lost: who's likely going to access to the final round from the groups? Brazil, Colombia, Chile and Venezuela? And then we'll have just two of this team directly qualify to WWC and another one will have to play-off vs Carribbean?
In group A, Colombia has played all thier matches, won the group and is already in the final round. Chile is likely to advance as well. The hosts have one point advantage over Paraguay with both playing bottom table team in their last match. From group B, it's surely to be Brazil that will qualify from 1st place and behind them a winner of Argentina v Venezuela match played on last matchday. In final round I can't see anyone challanging Brazil for 1st place - WWC and OG direct ticket Colombia's favourite for 2nd but Chile plays at home with their 16.000 supporters (last match) that really do make 12th player on the pitch. Argentina/Venezuela with least chance to make it better than 4th but still not impossible. 2nd place in final round gives direct ticket for WWC and play-off with CAF for Tokyo2020 3rd place gives WWC play-off with CONCACAF
Chile don't score much, but they're very well disciplined overall, and thus don't get scored on much either.
Final Ecuador 0-1 Bolivia (Morón) Just the third win in Bolivia's history in Copa América. Now Brazil-Venezuela
Is very different to play at sea level (Chile) than 2.850 meters above sea level (Quito) where the last Copa América was played (and being the hosts helps too just like now).
2006 - Ecuador went 1-1-2 in the first phase and didn't advance 2010 - Ecuador hosted the tournament and went 3-0-1 but didn't advance due to GD tiebreak 2014 - Ecuador hosted the tournament again but did worse in the first stage at 2-0-2, and only squeaked into the second phase on GD. They then went 1-0-2 to finish third, and got to go to the WWC by beating... Trinidad & Tobago with an aggregate score of 1-0. So, over the past three tournaments, even when hosting twice, Ecaudor have a thoroughly average 7-1-7 record. Take away the hosting, and... yeah, not a great team overall. (Put another way, the 6 wins they got while hosting twice account for more than the 5 wins than they got in four other tournaments combined - five other tournaments if you count this year.) They also haven't played any FIFA matches since the 2015 WWC, so there's that too. They're the only CONMEBOL team that's was unranked due to inactivity at the start of this tournament.
Brazil 4-0 Venezuela 0-1, 19' Monica (BRA); 0-2, 38' Beatriz Zaneratto (BRA); 0-3, 72' Beatriz Zaneratto (BRA); 0-4, 82' Marta (BRA) Brazil 9 points +14 is almost sure to be the winner of the group. Venezuela 6 points +5 and Argentina 6 points +4 ...and they clash in the last game. With a tie Venezuela pass, Argentina needs to win.
The magic girl is gone... Vanessa Arauz was Ecuador coach from around 2013 however she resigned this year after her U-17's didn't qualify to WWC. Seeing her own limitations she went overseas to learn pro coaching. I do remember interview with her during WWC15 where she spoke about day by day uphill battle against her own federation, stereotypes or even some misogynist, all to get moving forward with WoSo in Ecuador. At the age of 24 - NT player - she became coach of women teams from all age categories, traveling the country with limited funds, there and back again in search of talented girls. She was 26 when her ladies qualified to WWC -- a cinderella story for all of them - by her own words. Even before clobbering from Cameroon and then again from Swiss she tried to explain to the press that her team can't really compete on equal grounds with any team in this tourney but it was taken with grain of salt as too much simple excuse especially after Ecuador had given up 16 goals. Well one person listened - Sasaki. Nadeshiko did scored against them quick for 3 points needed to top the group an then gave up on idea of trashing them. The match finished 1-0 which was a jaw dropper for many but I never saw loosing team so happy after a final whistle and resting players in this match proved crucial for Japan during first part of play-offs. Anyway Arauz had real impact on WoSo developement in her country and now when she's gone for awhile, looks like some magic disappeared as well In few years time and with FIFA Pro licence in her pocket though....
Paraguay Uruguay are tied 1-1 at 85 min. Later Chile-Perú Edit: and at 91' Peralta for Paraguay 2-1 Uruguay
Now, that's a football background story I enjoy reading. Let us hope Arauz returns soon so Ecuador can be a contender again. It will force other South American NTs to raise their game too. It is very likely that Chile will qualify today, therefore Paraguay (7pts) will root for no-draw in tomorrow's match between Argentina (6pts) and Venezuela (6pts). Teams placed 3rd+4th+5th in this tournament will qualify to the Pan American Games of Lima 2019. http://www.cafemchile2018.cl/noticia/62/conoce-los-premios-de-la-copa-america-femenina-2018
Chile very nervous from the start, they're forcing their play to much instead of letting it flow - where their strength is.

They don't have off switch... now do they? Rest a little...think 'bout next match in 2nd round...but no, they need push for another goal....
