Panama's keeper was not really at fault on the goal but she took a slightly bad route toward the back post where a better route might have allowed Sinclair to hit her instead of the goal. 1-0 for Canada at the half.
Panama is not out of this from the way they have been playing but now they "need" a goal and that may make them more vulnerable to a quick counter IF Canada will just attack instead of playing so slow.
Wow surprising first half from Canada. It seems like they were playing at a slow pace and not even trying. They do know that after 90 minutes there's no overtime and it goes straight to penalties?(which honestly was news to me just a few days ago and I don't understand how the rules magically can be changed without it being illegal) Are they just playing like this because they assume they are going to win and want to come out stronger on Wednesday? Even though Sinclair scored that goal towards the end of the first half, Panama are certainly not out of it yet if they can survive the first 5 minutes of the second half and keep the foot on the pedal and keep the pressure high.
Canada starts the half by stealing the ball and going BACKWARD. It is the main theme Canada has shown in this match.
Fleming then Sinclair again makes it 3-0. Canada is going to win this match BUT they are certainty not really showing good control, just an excess of talent. The Panamanian defense and keeper are showing their true form.
Panama now has to make a decision: go head and rest key players and throw the game or try to come back which is almost impossible, considering skill levels...
Yes I think that Panama's starting keeper saves 2 of Canada's goals. Maybe not actual saves as she is also, it seems, much better at keeping her defense organized.
Still don't know why they rest the keeper...She's not running that much to get too much tired for the next game like other players...4-0...while typing...It's too late for Panama...
4-0. On the breakaway Panama's keeper makes herself small and the ball is simply passed around her. This is what I expected from the starting lineup.
At the end of the day, Panama will have to pay for the decisions they make. Wish them good luck on the next game, possibly against Jamaica...
Question was asked by the commentators: What does Canada need to do now? My answer is simple: Get Sinclair her hat trick and sub her. They do not really need anything else. BTW: It is now 5-0
Canada need to rest key players now for the next game, against possibly USA...It's time: Sinclair out, Leon in
