Hopefully the TV presence will be improved next year. I was happy to discover that the CCL is back on TV in the MENA region on BeIn Sports - well, at least the final was (used to be on Abu Dhabi Sports).
This cartoon has to be updated. The "ball with Dracula collar" trophy has been replaced. PS: where are the mediotiempo cartoons?
I remember being at the stadium when Atlante surprisingly took the lead against Barcelona (2009 was also in Abu Dhabi.) Zlatan Ibrahimovic still played for Barcelona at the time. So did Thierry Henry.
Nah...it is great. Tells you how old this joke is. 10 years from now I'll still be posting the same old image I pull out every year......
Really? If you listen to a lot of their fans, you'd think they were created on the 8th day. That was a lot more than a year ago.
Final thoughts on the CCL this year. Maybe it's just a pet peeve of mine but the media's insistence to treat the "CCL era" as an almost separate competition is rather annoying. This is not a 10-year old competition and we are essentially back to the Champions Cup format. If you want to differentiate between old and new, then identify the switch from single site tournament to home and away format in 2002. Don't think it's the same in the Spanish-speaking media?
1.5 million in the us. 300k in Canada. Most likely one of the highest rated matches involving an mls team ever.
I'll have to disagree with you here. The inflection point in 2008 that leads to talk of the CCL era and pre-CCL era is not only the format change (otherwise, as of last summer, we'd have to recognize the break between the CCL era and the neo-CCC era), but the expansion of the field. The Concacaf League in particular has no predecessor from before 2008.
Here in Houston, NASA's PR department just announced this afternoon that their elite staff will need to track Bradley's PK miss as it continues to orbit our planet.
I heard it hit Elon Musk's orbiting Tesla Roadster a few days back. This link should give you a rough idea of it's current location: http://www.whereisroadster.com
Without doubt there is variation - but at least you provide a logical argument to lend some credibility to your dubious analysis However I'm skeptical that Red Bulls were playing a bunch of great over performing goal scorers. Am I correct that this is what your are no claiming? Furthermore, even those that under perform and over perform do so nowhere near what you stated. Nice try.
Outcomes would change if the games were played in this hemisphere. Just as MLS is at a big disadvantage playing in preseason, Mexican teams are at a big disadvantage traveling half a day to to get to the tournament site. Notice even the Europeans despite the obvious wealth of talent and favorable draw aren't all that great when they have to travel to Japan or South America. Real Madrid was 2-2 after 90 against a Japanese team playing in Japan.
