So, what's the rest of the trade? Press back to the Red Stars and the three to Houston? And, Brian coming back to the Red Stars?
The speculation by fans by "reason of deduction" is, Huerta and Comeau to Houston, Johnson may go to Houston OR Utah, Press will now be shipped off to Utah and some are speculating even further that Heather O'Reilly may go to North Carolina. The Red Stars...well, speculating fans don't know what or who the Red Stars are getting accept that Brian will be back as soon as her paperwork is approved is what that speculation is. Many fans at yesterday's game were trying to guess how this scenario will play out. We'll see.
I was wondering why Huerta didn't play. https://www.hottimeinoldtown.com/20...018-match-recap-nagasato-goal-penalty-rebound
Yes I goofed I meant this one https://www.hottimeinoldtown.com/20...d-stars-1-portland-thorns-1-nwsl-2018-week-12
Here's the trade Red Stars fans: http://www.nwslsoccer.com/news/#tra...utah-huerta-comeau-to-houston-elby-to-chicago http://chicagoredstars.com/chicago-acquires-brooke-elby-and-six-nwsl-college-draft-picks/ https://equalizersoccer.com/2018/06/18/nwsl-mega-deal-sends-christen-press-rights-to-utah/ I still have to digest what all this means.
Yes it's apples & oranges, but this deal smacks of Hauptman level arrogance. Who will be the next international looking to leave? Ertz? Kerr? Naeher? Is Arnim so joined at the hip with Dames that he can't see that Dames is the reason the Red Stars parts add up to more than the whole? I care about 2018, the future can wait.
I think the Red Stars are looking at NC, Seattle, Utah, Orlando, and Portland ahead of them this year. They're investing for the future, and based on what I've heard about what's coming up through the pipeline, it's a good investment. Yes, there are risks. But there are risks, no matter what. I'd say that the Red Stars have come out of this the best as an ongoing enterprise.
I can't disagree. I don't know how much Arnim is joined at the hip to Rory. I'm curious about that myself. Does a disaster have to happen before he looks for another Head Coach?
Nice to get so many good draft picks but when you have kerr you should try to win now. https://www.hottimeinoldtown.com/20...-utah-royals-huerta-comeau-johnson-press-elby
Internationals can look to leave--but there aren't many places to go. Look at Press: I like her as a player but a bit (more than) of a prima donna: She wanted to leave Chicago--why?--but didn't want to play in Houston, then ended up back at the middling Swedish team she'd played for previously. Now she's ended up with...Utah. Ha There aren't many options better than Chicago, IMO. RE all the draft picks in the next two years, they are nice to have and might really bolster Chicago soon but it can take time for even top picks to adjust to the pro game, and some struggle with the transition. That's the risk.
The one I am most sad to see leave is Taylor Comeau. She gave it all for Chicago and played her heart out. She played through bruised ribs, coughed up blood after a game and never complained and she was a very nice person. Thank You, Taylor Comeau from a 10 year Red Stars Season Ticket holder for giving it your all, unselfishly every game and still had the kindness and energy to sign autographs for kids well after the game was over. Thank You.
In fact all three, Sofia, Sam and Taylor were good to the kids and fans that came to Red Stars games. That will never be forgotten.
really no comment at this point. There are so many ingredients in the 2018 CRS cake - will just have to see how the cake turns out by end of this season.

crazyhorse, yes, we've been discussing this on both the Red Stars and Player moves thread. But to answer your question, I am saddened to see all three go. They were warriors for Chicago. Sofia was drafted out of Santa Clara into the Red Stars and IMO, Rory played her right away and she excelled. But according to everything I hear and understand, she needed to go to a team where she has a chance to play outside back and in Chicago that wasn't happening, let's see if it happens in Houston. Comeau also got plenty of playing time and became a team favorite. As for Johnson, although I liked her individual heroics in making goal-saving tackles, IMO her and Naughton weren't jelling in the central defender role and I don't think it was Naughton. I am not surprised that Johnson was moved. Having said all that all three are great people, the all became "Chicagoans" and all three will be missed by the fans. I also liked Lauren Kaskie, she is a very nice person, and I thought she contributed well when she came in, but room needed to be made for Morgan Brian, personel-wise and money-wise, in my opinion. This whole move, IMO was made to appease a whole lot of people, players, the National Team coaching staff, Houston, Utah, Huerta, Press, Johnson, and maybe even Comeau. The Red Stars maybe got people out who maybe needed to go somewhere else and got a whole mess of future draft picks while keeping the bulk of their team in tact. There are still many questions that Red Stars fans have, some involve the future, some involve the coach, and some questions may never be answered.
To continue: This was a perfect storm coming together. Press wanting to come back to the NWSL, Morgan Brian wanting to come back to the NWSL, Red Stars getting destroyed by Orlando a couple of weeks ago especially in central defense, Sofia needing to be moved where she can continue her climb into the National Team, Red Stars three injured stars making a return all at once, Houston needing a make-up for the no-show Press, Utah surging in the standings and wanting another forward with A-Rod, and there's probably a couple of other factors involved. It all came together on one weekend, just like perfect storms do sometimes, except this one happened in the NWSL.
Looks like Red Stars get a shirt sponsor: http://chicagoredstars.com/chicago-red-stars-sign-multi-year-partnership-with-magellan-corporation/
Thanks for the reply MRAD, where are the powers at be wanting Huerta to play position wise (us national team)? Also, in my humble opinion the Red Stars just got better and have a pretty formidable line-up with everyone healthy.
Jill Ellis apparently wants Huerta on a team that will play her at outside back, the position where Ellis thinks she can help the national team--and the position she played against China. Huerta, as MRAD noted, was not playing outside back with Chicago.
