Tired of seeing our Red Stars players coming back from USWNT camp hurt. Julie, Casey. Last season Alyssa. What's going on?
Yup, anyone who has ever ridden the trains in Chicago would immediately understand. As a matter of fact when I was coming back from Orlando the other day, I took the Blue Line back home and I looked up above the door and thought about this Red Stars promo.
Could this be the Red Stars new home in a few years? https://chicago.curbed.com/2017/11/21/16687000/lincoln-yards-stadium-united-soccer-league http://www.chicagotribune.com/busin...s-soccer-stadium-ryan-ori-20171121-story.html
the part with the connection to Chicago Fire Doubleheader was priceless! As a guy living in a town with 4 lines of subway, I can appreciate.
Red Stars won the game against the Thorns this evening 1-0 on a second half goal from Gilliland. It was a fun game, the players on the field tried to win, but both coaches clearly were interested in seeing lots of players. Interestingly, Sam Kerr was here and played the last quarter of the game.
Kerr has quite the legacy to follow filling in the shoes of Press. It'll be interesting to see if she can similarly get them to playoffs.
Well, as fantastic as she was last season, Kerr, with her goals, didn't manage to get SkyBlue FC to NWSL's playoffs. Oh, and I have to mention that she didn't manage to get Perth Glory FC to Aussie League's playoffs either...
This is a big year for the Red Stars. CRS need all their players healthy every week in order to contest for the NWSL Championship this season. With a week to go and the final official roster a couple of days away from being announced, the Red Stars have several key players injured. Julie Ertz Casey Short Vanessa Dibernardo Yuki Nagasato
So I hope no one is jealous of the Red Stars now. Players are injured and the new star that was acquired for the former star can't play for 1/4 of the season. So maybe the Red Stars didn't get away with as much as some people think.
That's unfortunate. I really wanted to see how Nagasato could enter in the equation this year and what kind of exact position she would have taken on the pitch (especially with Kerr as the central FW). Since it's a hamstring injury, I hope recover shouldn't take so long, should it?
Assuming its a hamstring strain, it depends on the severity. A mild strain can be a couple of weeks while a more severe strain can take a few months. Lavelle has essentially had a hamstring injury for 8 months or so.
Well, let's hope it's something less severe than Lavelle's! Any chance CRS says anything about the expected length of recovery?
Not that it's a surprise, just didn't realize how many games it will entail. Red Stars last 4 games are all away. The fans will miss out on seeing her quite a bit.
I'd say the five games could have been anticipated just looking at when NWSL starts vs when WWCQ ends, but not having her at home very much would certainly be something that wouldn't be known until the actual week-by-week calendar was decided. That said, of the five games she'll miss, it's a pretty even split between home and away, so I bet WWCQ was taken into account when drawing up the schedule to not hurt any heaving affected teams much more or less than other teams.
