The format for the draw is set: https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2017/11/29/concacaf-announces-draw-procedure-2018-champions-league It uses a two pot seeding system. TFC is in Pot A based on the performance of Canadian teams in recent editions of the CCL. All the Mexican teams and three of the four American teams are also in Pot A (Colorado is in Pot B). So, unless they draw Colorado, TFC will face a team from Central America or the Caribbean in the first round.
They shouldn't have a problem winning their first knockout game, quarterfinals is when it will get spicy.
So that forced ticket we had to buy for a match in February outdoors at @BMOField isn’t even to see a unique opponent we couldn’t see anyway once the weather gets better?Who needs a pair (or more!) https://t.co/MCtXQTwkWo— Toarea Fan 🇨🇦 (@TOareaFan) December 19, 2017
Pretty disappointing, but at least we stand a good chance to advance to the next round. Interesting that Scotiabank is sponsoring it. Other than Jamaica I don't know what other CONCACAF countries they have a presence in.
Very disappointed to get Colorado. It would be far more interesting to get someone different. At least we don't match up against another MLS team if we win.
http://www.concacaf.com/article/sccl-view-toronto-fc In the fourth of a series of articles taking a closer look at each of the 16 teams in the 2018 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League (SCCL), CONCACAF.com goes in-depth on Toronto FC.
The excitement of playing in CCL kinda dies off when instead of playing Central American or Caribbean side you play MLS side in what will be two cold matches.
