It is official now after he was granted work permit: We are delighted to announce that Japan international Yoshinori Muto has completed a move to Newcastle United after he was granted a work permit at a hearing today. #NUFC pic.twitter.com/eB7qAoxtsa— Newcastle United FC (@NUFC) August 2, 2018 4 years contract. Hopefully he will improve as a player under Rafael Benitez, as I think he was stagnating at Mainz and needs a high-calibre coach to elevate his game.
They’re expecting a lot from him it looks like. Hope he’ll be able to live up to the expectations. It’s also great to see another Japanese player in the PL.
I’ve been to Newcastle. The club has a fanatical following and lots of tradition, though their performances usually don’t live up their support. St. James’ Park has incredible atmosphere on game day. So although he may not be going to a much higher quality team than Mainz, all things considered this is a big step up and a challenge for him. The pressure will be much greater. He likely will be given significant minutes so he has his chance —can’t ask for more.

Had a promising 15 minutes, and considering the opponent was Tottenham, he might have better opportunities to score against weaker teams.
Yes he had a few decent touches in his debut with limited minutes today. By the way Samurai Warrior, Daily Mail newspaper used your twitter video showing Inesta's goal in their article. I thought, I know this guy from somewhere hahaha...

Won a PK for his team after his cross was handballed in the PA. Too bad they didn't convert this opportunity.
Came in the 65th minute (15 minutes earlier than last game). One of his teammates was sent off shortly after his introduction. Yet Muto managed to won his team a penalty in the stoppage time, his teammate Kennedy took it and failed to convert it! Alas! It should be Newcastle's first win and first way win of the season against a team which will potentially battle with Newcastle and the likes to avoid relegation. Newcastle fans are complaining: why did not Muto took the penalty by himself rather than the overhyped Kennedy!

Came on last 10 minutes, not enough time. Had half a chance when Cech spilled the ball in front of Muto but recovered it immediately.
