Seriously, he's a striker. If they've got it, getting them game time at crazy young ages isn't a bad thing. Too much time would be, but there is a long and really impressive history of this sort of thing. It will probably be Salloi or new guy providing depth.
Freeman? No matter what his skills are, his physical body is still needing to grow and strengthen. He's scrawnier than Salloi was at the beginning of last year.
I wish SKC would grab a striker on loan from someplace to get us through the time Hurtado is out. Putting some of SKC’s other players in the striker position just decreases the depth in the positions they normally play.
It would seem that this is the sort of situation for which SKC has a feeder club. So, any of Wilson Harris, Karani, Mensah etc able to step in as an emergency option in case of further injury/exhaustion? Whoever, it is they'd probably be behind Salloi, I'd think, but still probably in the 18.
Club tweeted out a pic of him in a boot from last night’s STM kids fantasy clinic. Vermes: Salloi out for a while. Maybe 6 weeks. #sportingkc— Thad (@TheBackpost) March 21, 2019
Can SKC sign Harris at this point in time? We have the roster space and likely the cap (Edit ... he likely wouldn't be given a roster spot that counts against the cap) for his salary ... just wondering if there's a "timing" issue with open windows and such.
We have two roster spots open at the lower pay scale end of the roster. We could sign anyone willing that we want, and sign someone for below the normal minimum with those spots
Yes we could sign Harris technically and he’d be an ‘off budget’ player. Similar to how we signed Kuzain last year.
OTOH, Freeman is already on an SKC contract, right? Maybe the best move is to use Zelalem as the replacement for the Croizet role in midfield, and Croizet becomes Salloi for the next six weeks? And we just hope really hard that Nemeth stays healthy.
And now Lindsey is out 4-5 months. Hope Zusi can hang in there; he's going to get a lot of miles on those aging wheels. https://www.thebluetestament.com/20...g-kansas-city-s-jaylin-lindsey-out-4-5-months
According to this we’re signing former Chicago and Toronto player, Nicolas Hasler. Fairly versitaile, can play WB apparently, which would explain the interest with Lindsey out. https://www.volksblatt.li/Nachricht.aspx?src=vb&id=228247&twLink=1
Hope he's ready to start vs Cinci! Hasler - Barath - Smith - Rwat - Wallace Busio - Kuzain - Zelalem Rowe Croizet 0-0 road draw!
Looks like Busio staying with SKC vs going to camp with U17's ... 1113159442089086977 is not a valid tweet id Probably a good move! I think he still makes the U17 WC Qualifying rosters if SKC isn't in the middle of a brutal stretch with a bunch of injuries.
What possible point is there of playing against 17 year olds when he is now playing quite often in a good league against professionals. Allo he can do in that situation is lose. If he dominates, even wildly so, well, he should. If he's just okay, it raises questions of why he isn't dominating. At this point, everyone who could sign him away from SKC is already aware of him adn watching him, and what they care about is how he deals with actual footballers, not kids who might someday become them. Freeman is the sort who could benefit from the U-17 expereince. For busio, the next nats level he should be interested in is, IMO, at least Olympics.
Props for the proper Rwat usage. Fully behind this. If PV insists on the 4-3-3, i guess push two of Zelalem, Rowe and Busio to the front line, and Hasler to the midfield. Both Rwat and Barath have experience playing right back, and Barath has also played left back. But this is a time for a 5-4-1 or a 3-6-1
Busio played some wing in the Academy ... I'd say he and Rowe ... with Zelalem more suited for central ... pretty defensive lineup, but who cares!
There is always a benefit to playing in international competitions, whether it's club stuff like the CCL or youth or senior national team setups. He should jump at every chance he gets from the U17 World Cup to the U20 World Cup to the Olympics.
Okay, I take it you mean in the growing as a person sense, and personal fulfillment, etc. I can't argue against that. But in a football sense, he's moved beyond the U-17s, probably passed by the U-20s. He does not improve as a player going up against weaker opponents (and kids are weaker). He may grow as a person, if you're into that sort of thing.
I don't think playing against full teams of international players at the U17 World Cup level is playing against "weaker opponents". YMMV
I think it is. If nothing else, the level athleticism, speed, and muscle that guys older than 16 bring to the game makes it a very different experience.
This is the US 2011 WC U17 roster. I used 2011 because they've all had time to find their feet. Many of these kids became decent players, but the top side of their game tended to be MLS, and many as squad players, not regular starters. Some didn't hang around the professional game much at all. Now, this is not to be critical of their careers. They obviously are all excellent players because they were chosen for the team. But the professional game, even so, was a step too far. Busio is right now competing against professionals. that's as high a level as the game gets.in the US. To climb higher, he would need to be in one of the top leagues in another country, playing with and against better pros. 1 GK Kendall McIntosh 24 January 1994 (aged 17) United States San Jose Earthquakes Academy 2 DF Zach Carroll 16 March 1994 (aged 17) United States Vardar FC 3 DF Nathan Smith 18 October 1994 (aged 16) United States Cal Odyssey 4 DF Joe Amon 14 June 1994 (aged 17) United States South Carolina United 5 MF Matt Dunn 13 January 1994 (aged 17) Germany 1.
