That was definitley the case in the prem in 2009, the year we only lost two games. To an extent it was a symptom of our pre- VVD defence last year in the CL group stage. We have greater fire-power on the pitch and bench now though, so it's less likely it will be a big thing this year.
I totally disagree with your analysis above. Barcelona are a much better side than Madrid. And Bayern and PSG are better than Juve. Spurs are prob better than Juve. City I get. as for why are PSG ahead of us? er, Neymar, Mbappe, Cavani... (maybe....) not to mention having about 10 good midfielders. ... we're about even with them, I'd reckon.
I agree with Scouse about the draws. We have to do a better job against teams parking the bus. Early goals open the game up. We have a defense with enough speed inability along with the goalie that can stop the counter attacks. We also have talent to bring Off the Bench to change the game if things aren't working offensively. We should be able to pick up a lot more points that were left on the table last year. I also think clock has had another year to learn and hopefully has added some tactics to break down certain teams. I think Salah will do well but even if he doesn't score as many as last year Mane Kieta and Sturridge and shaq should pick up the slack I think our surprise player is going to be Sturridge who will get double figure goals and stay relatively healthy for an entire year. If that happens I could probably make more money betting than someone saying Liverpool is going to win the pl

I didn't put my Mourinho meltdown clause in here... in the case of which I had them finishing 6th, which was accurate. Apart from that, Spurs really blew it to let Chelsea sneak ahead of them. Never, ever would have called LFC getting to 97 points though. Wolves also took me by surprise, very capable side. Was way off about Fulham, 2/3 ain't bad though. 1/2... LFC had a fairly brutal draw in cups this year, especially compared to city. Could have happened, if they weren't on same side of the bracket? Never in a million years would have picked Ajax being so good, or Spurs dodging bullets like Neo in order to end up in the final. Generally not SUPER far off -- 2nd in league, cup winners, Salah scored 2 fewer goals than I thought, and Gini in the Barca match was a KILLER SURPRISE! However the real surprise, overall, was probably Origi. With very few minutes he had a huge impact on the season. Before Shaq fell off after his purple patch he was a great contender in this category, and Fabinho in particular is another good shout. Matip, or even Hendo in advanced position maybe? But I think Origi is probably most deserving of this recognition. And we all know what happened in CL... my thinking was that LFC would finish 2nd in a group of death, and get a really rough draw in the RO16. That all happened, but instead of rolling over or losing a close tie they kicked Bayern's asses and marched on to glory. Well done, lads. Not too Xabi Alonso in the end, as far as predictions go... bring on the next season. I may even go against type and pick LFC to win the prem, which I don't think I've ever done before. Might depend on how summer recruitment goes. YNWA
