Plane travel has got a little safer in the US and Canada. Carlos Rivas' option was declined. https://www.newyorkredbulls.com/pos...-red-bulls-announce-end-season-roster-updates
Guess I missed the story on this reference, anyone care to elaborate? And Ryan Meara is like the cockroach that keeps on coming back, that dude is never gonna leave (or be a starter apparently).
Didn't see this posted anywhere here but seems RB just screwed their American affiliate. https://www.onceametro.com/2018/12/...r-to-rb-leipzig-new-york-red-bulls-bundesliga I sincerely hope this isn't true since I think Adams is easily worth more that what NYCFC got for Harrison.
So then the club willingly screwed itself out of a transfer fee so its bigger club could get a player for free?!? I mean why couldn't they activate the player option so they can receive something for him especially since he is a HG player and they'd receive a bigger cut of the transfer than normal. I'm sorry but that is unacceptable if true.
Not arguing, just pointing it out. I'm not going to react until it's confirmed one way or another. It would be silly for Leipzig to not pay New York like, $1 million, to avoid FFP red flags and to give New York maximum GAM.
Shelton won't be returning to KC, he's trying his luck in Europe (KC made a bona fide offer and would retain his MLS rights). https://www.kansascity.com/sports/mls/sporting-kc/article222657820.html
To that end: Regarding the rumors that RB Leipzig did not pay a transfer fee for Tyler Adams, a New York Red Bulls spokesperson re-affirmed to me Denis Hamlett's comments from Monday that there was indeed a transfer fee involved in the transaction.— Sam Stejskal (@samstejskal) December 5, 2018
Pretty much this. I mean, Red Bull Corporate (or whoever they have designated as the lead on the sports endeavors) already pays for the youth academy and everything else, so the extra money from the transfer means nothing really. All the money above the GAM is just money that would offset money that would be provided by corporate anyway. Appearance wise, it looks bad but it is just an accounting thing for them. MLS was never going to see any money from it since he was a homegrown so it doesn't matter in the end. If this was a Jack Harrison situation then RB Leipzig would likely have to pony up the full market rate since MLS would want their cut.
As a HGP on the supplemental roster he would still have been under contract to MLS, not the Red Bulls directly.
Every player is under contract with MLS. Even DP's must sign a Standard Player Agreement with MLS. The Homegrown designation allows clubs to pay some of those players above the minimum and they basically get first right of refusal on them as well. They also get all the money from a sale of a homegrown player and MLS doesn't get a cut. This is to encourage teams to put money into their academy. From the Roster Rules:
I think MLS passes 100% of the fee to the club. My point was that RBL would have had to deal with MLS, and MLS aren't going to let anyone go for a song. For one thing they don't want to set a precedent.
For some reason can't copy the link, but The Athletic is reporting Jordan Morris signed for five years at a million per with Seattle.
24 years old, 15 goals and 5 assists in 57 games, game based on pace and coming off an ACL tear. This feels like a terrible deal for Seattle.
Impact sign former LYON academy player Harry Novillo (who last played for a Malaysian team...): https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2018...demy-product-forward-and-winger-harry-novillo
David Horst (of RSL, Portland, Houston, and then RSL again) has announced his retirement after a midseason Achilles tear which just won't heal.
Yeah. I wish people would put an end to some of the clickbait stuff with tweets and titles. It sounds like if his option is picked up then he approaches big money.
