Been to a couple Mississisauga home games , the home opener and last night against the Baltimore Blast. Both games the real attendance maybe around 500 people actually there unfortunately. The place fits around 5000 . I’m not a big indoor fan but I’ve been around soccer a long time and did follow the MISL in it’s heyday . I think the indoor game is a good product and can’t understand why attendances are so low now and so much lower than lacrosse. One thing I would do away with is the playing of music during live play. I don’t mind music when play is stopped but once play resumes I would rather they stopped the music. The number one thing I do like about the indoor game is an actual running clock that stops when the ball is out of play and at other stoppages in play so , you don’t see all the time waisting and faking of injuries that you see in the outdoor game . I’m a big outdoor fan but a actual time clock that actually stops at stoppages in play is something I wish the outdoor game would have.

I was at the Utica City - Milwaukee game today. When I got home, I wanted to check out a few of the calls and plays on YouTube. However, that game is already blocked in the US. The reason: they were playing music during the game and the copyright owners haven't been paid. That's yet another reason not to play music during the games.

Because the sport's heyday was 30+ years ago, because virtually no one playing today is half as skilled as most of the players of even 20 years ago, and because, for the most part, these are undercapitalized franchises who don't get that resources have to be devoted to the actual marketing of the product and sale of tickets. You can't just say, "Hey, this is a fun thing" and do nothing and wait for people to show up. Yet that's what many teams today do. Did I miss a rule change? Does the clock keep running when the ball goes out of play?
No it doesn't. He meant to say that he likes how in indoor, the clock stops for the ball going out of play, injuries and fouls.
Ohhhhhh, my bad. Apologies to SocMan. He actually did say that and I completely mis-read it. I confused "running clock" and mis-read "stops when the ball is out of play." The thing is (for the benefit of those who don't follow outdoor, like Syd), if you stopped the clock every time the ball went out of play in outdoor, games would take three hours. Significant lapses in time get added to the end. It's part of the unique nature of outdoor.
For anyone new to these boards, Ken Tomasch is absolutely bitter about the sport of Indoor Soccer. Ken has had managerial experience with the sport, however, none have been successful. To say that he is a bit bitter about the sport of indoor soccer, is an extreme understatement. I don't remember how or when Ken was involved with the sport and what teams he worked for, but he is extremely sensitive when the topic of the future of indoor soccer is brought up. As an old guy myself, I respect Ken's longevity. I do not share his long standing negativity to anything related to the sport. Please keep sharing your comments regarding indoor soccer. Keep this board active!!!!
Trying to figure out what any of the above comments have to do with attendance. Saturday, January 12, 2019 St. Louis @ Milwaukee - 3,305 Harrisburg @ Baltimore - 3,811 Orlando @ Florida - 3,783 Ontario @ Tacoma - 2,673
Nope. Just realistic. While the rest of you hold out hope that the days of Zungul et al can ever be attained again, I'm telling it like it is. Using my actual name, BTW. You don't remember how or when I was involved with the sport, but you're sure it was unsuccessful. Okay. As well as being extremely false. Not sensitive. Realistic. Pessimistic. There is no real future. Tell me where there is. Tell me what I've said that's not true. Tell me. Show me. Which is why I'm here. And why I keep watching the sport. And why I help keep its history alive. Again, using my real name. Which is more than we can say for you, Old Guy. Frigging anonymous cowards.

Odd, isn't it, when presumably the same people still live in the greater Kansas City area who used to turn out in 4x that number? At some point, people are going to have to admit it's less about the "fan base" and more about the front office's ability to reach them.
