We've got much more testing games ahead of us (Wolfsburg and Bayern) so let's rotate and win this game within the 90 minutes without exerting ourselves. I think Reus should be rested.

Agree. So many possibilities with our wings that we could wrest some wings and still get Philip in a couple others in the game

Union are no scrubs and way more robust than e.g. Wolfsburg. They also will defend in numbers. Favre won't take them as easy as you do. You probably have forgotten how your last clash with Union Berlin worked out, have you?

You took the fact that we would rest some wings as an afront to Union? Man it must be tough to walk around in your shoes thinking everyone is talking crap about you.

Only a fool would think that Dortmund shouldnt rest some players in a mid week match against a team that doesnt quite have the players we have. No one is saying Union is terrible or cant win, we are just saying that now is a good chance to rest some regulars that havnt yet had a rest.

I like the lineup giving Reus some rest. Win or lose it is much needed.

Diallo out with an injury. Hope we don't have to play without Akanji and Diallo in the coming games. I also don't like that we only have one sub for the defense on the bench. No need to have all of Reus, Sancho, Bruun Larsen and Alcacer on the bench.

There aren't any other defenders they could put on the bench. Everyone else is injured.

Good saves by Hitz to keep it 0-0. Defense not clearing well at the moment.

Hitz made two great saves in a row to keep this game level

Wolfsburg are mid-table in the Bundesliga - hardly seems obvious that Union Berlin are "way more robust." Good year so far for Union Berlin, but let's not crown them promoted just yet.

Pulisic with a nice dribble/nutmeg to create space. Ball back across the box nicked by the keeper and sent out by Union.

Pulisic with the best look we have had yet and gets under it. Could have been a better ball but certainly on his wrong foot.

    Games pace is increasing.

Goal, either Pulisic or Kagawa. Dahoud did really well in setting that up perfectly for Kagawa.

good goal by Pulisic.. Certainly deserved for following up. Cant ever assume the ball is saved and you must stay hungry.

yeah it was a goal by Pulisic but Dahoud set it up with a great ball in. Kagawa didnt head it terribly on goal, but it was a good hustle clean up job by pulisic

Great cross from Dahoud, excellent movement by Kagawa and quick reaction by Pulisic.

Blunder by the keeper after a good reflex. But he could've easily controlled the ball but decided to push it away for nothing. Well assisted by Dahoud, though.

Looks like Zagadou has problems as well. We are running out of defenders. Hurts even more when it's the first choice defenders.

Need to capitalize on the chances we are getting. Could easily be 1-1 or could easily be 3-1 either way. Union had two great chances to score.

Whats cool is, the ESPN app that allows you to watch the match.

Just saw the replay, yeah, that was terrible. No idea what he was thinking. Maybe the view on TV is deceiving but all he needed to do was put the hand on the ball and it's over.

    Good to be winning.

It's strange I was actually thinking about the game today and how important Dahoud and Weigl can be. I was listening to a Podcast about Barkley's development. After seeing Barkley start to progress and remembering how long Modric, Lampard and Xavi took to develop, I was thinking we must keep Dahoud and Weigl. IWe need to tie them down to very long term contracts and convince them how important they are.

Making Weigl captain today is a master stroke. I think he is going to be Witsel's understudy, but he has so much potential.

Toprak has been shaky, but it's his first game if I am not mistake. The injury to Diallo is a blow, because we have crunch games coming up.

The attack has been a bit underwhelming. Kagaw looks rusty and Philipp is getting some rough treatment. Wolf has been anonymous. Pulisic has been the best out of the bunch and not just, because he scored. He has created some dangerous moments with his dribbling.

Hopefully we can get through this game with no more injuries and not have to use our key players off the bench.
