I had the matchups wrong for these game. Apparently the USL does not have the highest seeds play the lowest available. They use a straight bracket. The head coach for RGVFC has gone to LA's coaching staff. RGVFC will need a new man in charge for the upcoming season. I'm not too broken up about it based on the games I saw this season compared to previous seasons.
https://www.houstondynamo.com/post/...unior-gonzalez-named-la-galaxy-coaching-staff https://www.lagalaxy.com/post/2017/...ka-nikolov-and-junior-gonzalez-coaching-staff It sounds like Junior Gonzalez is a Southern California guy so this is not very surprising. Two seasons for RGV, two head coaches. But both have moved up. I would agree that the 2017 Toros did not look as good as they did in 2016 under Wilmer. It will be interesting to see what happens next year. It seems like it would be good to get some continuity down there but these MLS2-type jobs may constantly be in flux.
USL Cup final Monday, November 13 (E1) Louisville City 1-0 (W4) Swope Park This is Louisville City's first USL Cup.
RGV has a new head coach. http://www.rgvfc.com/news_article/show/864140?referrer_id=2591541 Gerson Echeverry
Not impressed - this hire looks like another friend to Wilmer, just like the last coach was wasn't very good. Echeverry had a losing season every year at Seton Hall and was winless several years ago. This is from a SHU message board: "the coach got hired because he was an old pirate and cheaaaap. All he does is play foreign or ethnic players which is literally the strategy of someone who watches saturday morning soccer a few times. Look what its got him. Does anyone know how often he started the same lineup?? btw 3 of his players last year did really well on the RedBulls vs Chelsea... decent enough talent... Literally a child coach would have given the team a better record with even just 3 players like that. Like coach willard, if youre reading this, do everyone a favor including yourself and just quit." Why not promote one of the current assistants like Davey Arnuad from the HD or get Sanchez to take it?
