The same Monarchs that have 30 points from 11 games in the USL and are the best team in the league? (SRFC has 15 points from 12 games by comparison.) This is going to be a hard game no matter what.

so are you suggesting playing RSL would be better? IMHO playing a USL is an easier match that playing a MLS side. I am sure there are more Full Time International Players on the MLS side than on the USL side. Even though RSL aren't doing well at the moment, I think the match vs The Monarchs would be a lot more winnable. We shall see my friend. Next week will provide us the truth.

Nah, I wasn't really disagreeing with you, just noting that even the Monarchs would be a hard game. I'm sure Real will send their real (ahem) team, and we'll face a stiff challenge. Maybe we should practice parking the bus....

In other news, the wife just secured us tickets as a father's day present. Hope it turns out to be a good one!

    RSL Fan here:

The reason we're "joking" about sending the Monarchs instead of the first team is that the first team is hot garbage right now. They lost their last two matches by a combined 11-2 score. That is not a typo. We gave up 5 goals at Houston and then found a way to outdo our own shitty selves by giving up 6 (five in the first half) to Dallas.

So it's really not joking at all. I have more faith in the Monarchs putting together a game than the first team right now. Sure, the players individually are better on the first team, but that Monarch side has chemistry and is hot right now. The first team is exactly the opposite.

I expect/hope RSL will max out how many Monarch players can go. The unfortunate thing, at least for RSL, is that the top two players from the Monarchs are too old to get called up to the first thing. Yes, really. There is a stipulation in the CBA that players have to be 25 or younger to be called up from the Monarchs/USL side if that is where their contract is.

TBF Real Monarchs are Top of The League!!! Also I am sure that Real Salt Lake have players on International duty & are not at full strength. Not sure what the rules are, because Real Monarchs are a separate team from RSL, but whatever team comes to Sac-town will be a a tough challenge for Sac Republic. Looking forward to check how this cup tie plays out.

One miracle is happening right now in the US Open Cup. Christos FC is hanging w/ DC United. The 2nd half is beginning & the score is 1-1  - The Magic of the Cup is For Reals!!!

Alas, all good things must come to an end. Christos was a great story all the same.

    Colo beat OKC, btw.

*edit, OKC led 2-0 at the half, gave up game winner in the 89th'.

Meaning we'll be able to watch 15-20 seconds of action followed by 30 seconds of screen freeze?

I want to play the Galaxy, but we won't know who we get until the draw.

Can you imagine beating the Galaxy in USOC play?

    It'd be ecstasy.

There's a few good candidates. Christianson seemed to always be in the right place tonight, Caesar made some great runs....but I gotta vote Barerra...i think he had a goal and 2 assists (i could be wrong). And his diving header back into play (Caesar scored) was motivational!

All true, but I'm with @Robdog, Kiffe put the left side on absolute lock down and was solid in the attack. Game balls all around, though.

BTW, what the heck were those insects flying around the first half? We felt like we were at the wrong end of a shooting range.

The draw takes place at 8:00 and will be announced on U.S. Soccer Facebook page. I don't know when they'll announce hosts. Doesn't US Soccer have a policy to not play games on plastic? So, if we end up with Seattle then we may have a home game.

Otherwise, I would MUCH prefer LA or SJ.

Welp, FC Cincinnati and Miami FC get home games for the next round, but we get to travel to LA.

Funny that, Galaxy given another advantage.

Well, if we make it to MLS, we better get used to it, 'cause we'll be on the short end of that stick every day.....which makes beating them all the more glorious, lol.
