What's the over/under on number of internationals the team has in the 18? Team always seems to play down to the lower division teams. It'll be a nailbiter. And I think the former-Union affiliate knocks the team out of the tourney. So much for the 3-peat runner up moniker. And, to be honest, this game wasn't even on my radar until a coworker asked me if the Union was going to win Wednesday's "USA Cup" game ...
Aaron Wheeler and Pedro Ribeiro play for HCI. HCI is 2-5-4 overall and 1-5-1 on the road this season.
Ummm.....wouldn't the Union have to go the the USOC final 3 years in a row to have a 3-peat runners up moniker???? .......so cue the "Your 3 Time USOC Finalist Philadelphiaaaaaaa UUUUUUUUUnnion!!!!"
Cool. I'll probably go early and get drunk on the Dogfish Deck then. No one from my family likes coming to the USOC games but I've always enjoyed watching those games when just a couple thousand people show up for the soccer.
------------------------------ Local Helmet ----------------------------- Not that Wijnaldum - Kenny Boy - Tattoo Artist - Local Keegs ---------------- Academy Product - Axis of Creavalle ------------- ------------ Jodi Picault - "Get'em" Najem - "That goal" Herbers ------- ------------------------------ 4th tier guy --------------------------------
Didn't Picault just have a pretty serious injury? Also I bet Yaro gets the game over Tribbett and we see Najem over either Jones or Creavalle (that's a pretty reductive pairing for a game when you should really be overpowering the opponent).
Yes, yes and yes. I just got carried away with the nicknames. Remembered Najem and had put him in for Alberg before your reply.
Jim "We Take the Open Cup Seriously" Curtin likely will not roll with that lineup. Considering that Ale did not play last night and only played 15 on Thursday, I think it's possible that he plays on Wednesday. Herbers still is hurt to my understanding. Jim said in his press conference last week that he hoped Creavalle would be available on Sunday but would not be available on Wednesday. Here's my guess. Simpson Epps-Alberg-Picault Jones-Bedoya Wijnaldum-Marquez-Yaro-Rosenberry McCarthy Pontius, Ilsinho, Fabinho, Blake do not dress.
Hmm. I'll play. It's more fun with some uncertainty: Simpson Fabinho - Alberg - Epps Jones - Najem Wijnaldum - Marquez - Yaro - Rosenberry McCarthy Fabinho seems unlikely but we're down some wing depth with Picault and Herbers out, and I'm not sure you want to risk anything playing Ilsinho and Pontius before the RBNY game.
Trusty will make the 18, and so will Davies. Is the Union's HUGE summer addition practicing yet? This would have been a good game for him to get some fitness.....
No.....the MF who most want and say should play CB who's been injured for nearly 3 seasons running.....
I literally had to think for a few seconds about who you were referring to. Like my brain seriously went something like "MF playing CB? Josh Yaro - Brian Carroll - Ken Tribbett - 3 seasons? Oh... that dude's NEVER coming back."
