Tulsa Roughnecks Time to start this up. Tulsa hosts the Colorado Springs Switchbacks tonight (Sat.) @ 7:00pm. http://www.roughnecksfc.com/news_article/show/773256?referrer_id=2689357 Match stream here: FC United PDL John Dorn has taken his PDL license north to Chicago FC United. Home games will be played at Northwestern's Lakeside Field. If this side is anything like the teams Dorn assembled in the pre-Hauptman days it will be very competitive and will likely feature top Fire collegiate Homegrowns, as well as some top non MLS affiliated players. There are many worse ways to spend late spring/early summer evenings than watching footy on the lakeshore. Chicago FC United PDL schedule Chicago FC United to Compete for 2017 Hank Steinbrecher Cup Did you know the Fire, . . . er, . . . FC United are the defending champion? Chicago Fire Academy Academy teams take on Vardar today in Michigan, then return next Saturday to the Toyota Park turf field to face the Crew Academy Wolves in an early tailgater's special (U-18 k.o. 9:00am, U-16 k.o. 11:00am).

Of all the USL games I've watched today Tulsa/Colorado Springs has been the best (pending). Louisville/Shit Louis was a game controlled by Louisville but they had the shooting boots of a U-10's squad. Richmond/Harrisburg City was better thankfully but still had some terrible attempts at goal. Reno/Orange County (Logan Pause coaching) so far looks the best technically 33 minutes in.
Collin Fernandez played the full game in a central midfield role. He made some deft short passes and fought hard to win the ball, but also missed some passes and was dispossessed of the ball several times. But overall not a bad debut. The important thing he's getting playing time. Still an occasional move or pass makes you think he may be special. Joey Calistri played about 75 minutes as a wide midfielder. As previously mentioned, he earned an assist on the 2nd Tulsa goal. The Colorado goalkeeper made a lazy distribution to their LB. Calistri made a nicely timed run to intercept the distribution, carry it into the penalty area, and pull it back to a wide open striker for a tap in. I think Calistri had a hand in the 3rd Tulsa goal as well. He tried for a long lead pass for the Tulsa center forward/striker down the center channel. The ball beat both defenders as the forward split through them. But the ball was just a tad long. The Colorado GK whiffed on his attempt to clear it and fell down. The Tulsa forward was able to recover the ball and walk it into the goal. Calistri had a really good game.
Yeah, two guys had decent games against a 3rd division semi-pro team. Let's dump our new World Cup captain/Bayern Munich star and start them for the Fire! They are so much more important. Seriously, I hope these guys are the future for the Fire, but they are not the present. I want so much for the Fire to have that mix of great players and young players with potential to be the next generation. We absolutely deserve, and can have, both! This fight between "win now" and "play the kids" is stupid. We should demand to "win now" AND develop for the future.
We're seven years too late and lots of money short. However, Andell Inc. FC has offered us activations, model business practices, and endless business school bullshit jargon to fuel our memories instead of common sense team building and maintenance. #HauptmanOut
That's why I say dump manbun for Khaleesi. Manbun isn't good enough and I think Khaleesi can be converted into a right back.
Spot on. Fernandez's turn in the 2nd half was arguably the most skillful play of the game. Caffa had a couple of very skilled plays too. Main thing is these guys are going to play, rather than rot away here.
Totally forgot that the USL started this weekend. Glad to see that a few of the younger players are getting some game day experience. I hope that this continues. Time to take note of when Tulsa plays. Who would have guessed?
That the Fire no longer have a PDL team is a major indictment of NRod. While he's basking in the accolades of bringing Schweinstager here, we know he's had a hand in gutting the organization. And, yes, go see the games if you can. The matches will be good and the setting is fantastic.
The Fire no longer have a PDL team? Really? All of our homegrown players have spent time with the PDL team. We used to have both an NPSL and a PDL team. Now we have neither?
I know that I am stating the obvious, but that really sucks! I had no idea that we no longer had a PDL team. The investment for this is pretty minimal. Damm! N-Rod really blows. It's amazing how many great domestic players have played in the PDL. OK then. Isn't youth development the foundation of the team? I really don't get it.
