OK, this is for everyone now... DROP THE KEI STUFF ON THE ROSTER THREAD. If TRUJDUB is going to get chastised for posting it here, it's not fair to let everybody else throw stuff at him.
Dump Tchani and Williams. Bring in a quality starting right mid. Make Finlay a dynamic sub. That will make us quite a bit better.
I should have posted this here; So it's it fair to say Crognale > Mensah? Most seem to agree it's true particularly for value I didn't see the gm but sounds like another bad performance from our DP CB He wasn't alone the Steffen and Afful played a big part . Hansen seems to have a nose for the goal and getting in the right spots. Seems like a great draft pick? Artur - should we pick up his contract? I think most agree we will & should When will we do something with Sauro? For any salary cap experts. Will Sauro affect us next year in cap space ? What are our options ? What are our options and possible cap ramifications if we got rid of Mensah? Depending on health I like Sauro but Mensah has a lot to prove let's hope it's just taking him time to adjust to America while knocking off rust. How did Higuain play tonight? His final pass on king ball and his cross that Ola didn't put away were both top notch. Any rumors we get any value for selling Tchani? Wonder if anybody wants him. Is he still free because of Adidas contract? Read Orlando maybe considering him Did we make too much of a big deal about the formation ? I think we beat Orlando or worst case we draw. We need to play better defense maybe give Crognale the start over Mensah.
Just read Jack Mac was cut by Portland and is a free Agent. I would love to get him and have 3 strikers. If Ola was injured it would be good to have 2 options. Plus that 3-4-2-1 can easily be a 343 or 352 and if Jack Mac has limited options we should be able to land him at a fair price.
I'd take him for a portion of his salary. He made $270k last season. If we could get him under $100k (that's a HUGE if), I'd take him as a third option. We really need another striker on this roster because if Ola and Jahn are injured, we don't have a natural striker as a 3rd choice.
Tchani has been off the Gen Adidas contract for awhile now. I don't think he has a ton of value because we have no leverage. Teams can see we don't rate him and are not going to play him so we can't ask for much. At this point we will probably get a small amount of funny money and consider shedding his contract as the bigger part. I think we should be talking to Minnesota. They are getting run over and need a CM. Maybe Colorado or San Jose might want him. I think it's unclear if Sauro can even play at a competitive level again. If we straight cut Mensah I got to imagine a lot of his contract is guaranteed and that would be dead money. We would need to trade or sell him and I don't see any of those options happening.
Berhalter said Jonathan Mensah is having an MRI today after his thigh injury against the Timbers. #CrewSC— Patrick Murphy (@_Pat_Murphy) March 27, 2017 Going for the high score in injured centerbacks on fat contracts.
As of now, I'd say probably, it's still early though. I personally have liked what I've seen from game 1. He's a potential game changer. Slow down. Sauro is here for the rest of the year. That it. Either it's known that he won't physically be able to come back and we just have to wait his contract out, or we have to wait and see how recovery goes. And he may not even be in the plan even if his recovery goes well. I believe his contract is up after this year, so just assume he's here for this year and gone next year. MLS Salary Cap experts do not exist, remember this is Calvinball.
My reason for cutting Williams is, though I like him, he's far down the depth chart at CM. With Crognale and Lalas, much less Sauro still lurking, I don't see Williams having a place. I'd like to see a starting right wing. Finlay disappears and isn't as sharp as we need. He's a threat off the bench but 60-70 min of him is a lot of lost opportunity. Bring in a starter and pay for him with other cuts.
I'm still hoping we can sign Wolves players and they go after Jimmy Fiscus next year; I think Abubakar, Crognale, and Fiscus would be a pretty good group of young CBs. I liked Sauro, wish he hadn't gotten injured, but I'm not any more sure than anyone else he can make it back. Mensah so far doesn't seem worth whatever his salary is without the transfer on top; here's hoping that changes because either way he's going to be here a while. I'd rather have the money to spend on McInerney, with the way the roster is set up with a forward injury you might have to get creative, it'd be nice to have a third on the roster. Basically need a citizen or green card holder at this point with a player already being loaned out due to available international slots.
CSA Wolves have across the board been producing better talent/teams than the hometown academy. That said it hasn't bared much fruit. Everyone was drooling over Selamani. But correct me if I'm wrong but none of our HG signings have come from that pipeline. Which begs question, what value is that affiliation for either party.
