How about a diamond 4-4-2 of Harrison, Jonathan, Naess, Jukka Trapp Hansen,Higuain, Meram Ola, Manneh Tell Manneh to chase Pirlo. That will not tax his fitness. . .
Best case scenario: ----------------Steffen Afful---Mensah---Williams---Raitala ------------Trapp---Naess Hansen/Finlay-----Higuain-----Meram ---------------Kamara Worst case scenario: ----------------Steffen Afful---Mensah---Naess---Raitala ------------Trapp---Abu Hansen/Finlay-----Higuain-----Meram ---------------Kamara I think I'd keep Manneh on the bench as a super sub for the time being. NYCFC has Matarrita out at left back, which is good for us since he's a top 5 LB. I'd be fine with Hansen or Finlay right now starting, just tell them to run at whoever is at left back. Last week they had Rodney Wallace there, who is really a winger. I'd be shocked if they did that again, but they don't really have any other options. I like Hansen, but he's a rookie and inconsistent. If he starts, cool, if it's Finlay, that's cool too, I know he'll outwork and pressure whoever is at LB for NY. As much as I don't rate Williams, no way I'd start Abubakar in this game, up against the likes of Villa, Harrison, Moralez, and Pirlo's passes. And again, as much as I don't rate Williams, I like him more than Abu. GB said Crognale is leaning towards not playing, but he didn't say it definitively, so who knows.
This seems out of nowhere... http://www.espnfc.us/story/3114655/...-deal-to-sign-ryan-jack-from-aberdeen-sources
Crew linked to Aberdeen M Ryan Jack: http://www.espnfc.us/story/3114655/...-deal-to-sign-ryan-jack-from-aberdeen-sources
A defensive midfielder? Thought we had no international spots left? Oh. And a Scottish player? Oh dear.
Columbus Crew beat "writers" motto: " We rely on google alerts to bring you the latest news" "We don't have any sources of our own" "We have no idea what we are doing. Unless Greggggggg tells us what we are doing"
He's a defensive midfielder on a free transfer. We need that since Abu is shit. Seems reasonable to me. Perhaps we can just trade Abu to them lulz.
Well if we get him that's more depth I like it. Doubt we get him and Brazilian but this means cut Abu and Duka if we do
I assume you have seen a lot of this Scottish player to make this judgement? Huh. Didn't you want Abu to replace Trapp? https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/2016-17-offseason-roster-thread.2036392/page-66#post-35079060
Agree on our slots. Someone would have to go (release or loan) or get a GC. What's wrong with Scotland? Adam Moffat was good for us (and Houston). Jack is 25, was the captain, and Rangers were reportedly interested. Plus, I think he's a tad more dynamic/forward looking. Plus, DM/CM is the one area we are thin at (especially with Artur out). Lastly, WE GOT THE JACK! Young. Team captain. In demand. At position of need. Scottish. With handy AC/DC theme song. What's not to like?
Rangers of now are not the Rangers of 10 years ago. Utterly average. Can't get in the Scotland squad. Who are awful. The Scottish league (with the possible exception of Celtic) is below MLS. Who was the last player to move from the Scottish League to MLS who was any good ?
Will add. Never seen him play and I doubt anyone here has seen more than 2 games of his. Yet people seem ready to make assumptions....
No complaints for a solid Artur backup. If he was that good other teams with Money would be after him.
He doesn't need to be good. Just better than Abu, Saravia, or Tchani were. If he is only Mo Saeid at best, he's a good enough #3. And, in a pinch, we could hopefully move Naess to DM and push Jack to 4th option.
Theoretically yes, but who was after Artur orther than us? Or Ola? Or Afful? Or Giancarlo Gonzalez? Or Næss? None of us had ever heard of these guys before, so hard to say.
Do I want someone to replace Trapp , yes. He is a good player but doesn't have a physical presence nor the speed to be box to box. Abu sucks Now that we have all seen him. I like Tchani better than Trapp . I want a DM to have better physical abilities than Trapp
True, I guess you never know but Jack seems to be no secret in the soccer world Massive Report has Jack as possible Pipa replacement. Mighty tall words.
And that's total garbage from literally everything else I've read. Dude seems to be a holding midfielder. Average pace and movement. Decent on heading crosses, but a pretty simple British player from what I'm reading. Not that it's a bad thing, but he is without question NOT a #10. MR did this with Artur too, saying he was Pipa's replacement, which he isn't. Artur is clearly a box-to-box #8 type of player. We've seen this with Manneh and Meram too, fans so desperate to make players play positions that they don't. It's either ignorance of the player's previous record, sheer delusion, or people being so lazy these days they can't be bothered to google something for a whole 5 minutes, not sure which. EDIT: Ryan has 11 goals and 11 assists... in his entire career. Which started in 2007, 247 appearances in total. A goal OR assists once every 10 games. Oh yeah, real #10 material there.
Well if Massive Report says it. Must be true. That article appears to have been written by a 10 year old.
I see you have missed my point. You haven't seen him. You have no idea what his strengths and weaknesses are.
