This is probably meaningless. But on the latest Rapids Podcast, Conor McGahey asked Richard Fleming to describe what it's like to broadcast the road games, and Richard spent a few minutes describing, basically, how it really sucks to call the road games from a quiet studio in Denver. How there's no atmosphere, it's less interesting, etc. I just found it odd, because certainly everyone who listens to the Rapids podcast already knows this. Were they basically airing a grievance about KSE on their own podcast? They also played a really maudlin version of "Danny Boy" because of Doyle that seemed, to me, like laying it on pretty thick.
Here's one for the record books So, KSE were able to achieve the wooden spoon with the avalanche by a mile.... 48 pts something like 14 fewer than their nearest competition. Looks like the rapids will get that honor this season. This leaves the LA Rams and the Nuggets ... What if they could do the seemingly impossible, improbable, amazing, extraordinary feat of getting one or even two more golden spoons in a period of one year? That would have to be some kind of a record!!! GO KSE!!!!!!! (Figuratively and literally)
Gordon now has 3 of the 7 game-winning goals on the team. Honestly, I think he's justified his salary at this point.
Wooden Spoon update following the Saturday, September 30 matches: Spoiler (Move your mouse to the spoiler area to reveal the content) Show Spoiler Hide Spoiler Disaster in the quest for the Spoon. Colorado played Spoon-give-away, and a bad officiating call on the last play of second half stoppage time handed control of the Spoon destiny to Los Angeles. Colorado Rapids 2, Montreal Impact 1 Los Angeles Galaxy 1, Real Salt Lake 1 Colorado Rapids, 29 points in 31 games, 0.94 PPG Los Angeles Galaxy, 29 points in 32 games, 0.91 PPG With Colorado's win, the Kroenke Line had slumped to 0.33 PPG or below, based on the historic runner-up having 30.83 points. Minnesota United and DC United each are sitting on 32 points. If Colorado or Los Angeles stumble again, they could jump back into the race for the Spoon. This race almost certainly will go down to the last weekend. Remaining matches: Colorado v. FC Dallas, Saturday, October 7 v. Real Salt Lake, Sunday October 15 at Seattle Sounders, Sunday October 22 Los Angeles Galaxy v. Minnesota United, Sunday October 15 at FC Dallas, Sunday October 22 The Galaxy clearly have the advantage in the race for the Spoon. The Gals play one of the Spoon lurkers next match (Minnesota) and also have a game played advantage over the Rapids. The Gals don't play for two weeks, and the game advantage will disappear next weekend. Colorado has one more struggling opponent (FCD) at home. The Rapids realistically must go 0-2-1 or worse in the remaining three matches to have any hope for the Spoon. With this schedule, losing all three matches will be difficult, but not impossible. There is still hope that the Gals could surprise the world and win one of their two remaining matches. How ironic that FCD could be the team that decides the Spoon.
You're forgiven for losing count of our wins, so much winning, winning so much we're getting tired of winning ...
Badji currently has 9 goals and 6 assists (with 3 games to play). To find the last time a Rapids player was involved in 15 goals you have to go back to C+C Goal Factory in 2010. Cummings had 17 (14/3) and Casey had 19 (13/6).
Badji continues to improve and is a half-decent player now. Not good enough to be an MLS team's main scoring weapon, but would be a pretty good 2nd scoring option.
Sign Gareth Bale = B B Goal Factory? The post made me think of Cummings role, in different times, when we made the playoffs and stuff ...
Strangely enough, going back a couple of years (and even last year), I would have predicted that Hairston would have a break out year before Badji. Hairston looks lost this year, whereas Badji gets the most out of his limited ball possession skills. I also thought Serna was talented when he began his career. A little small, so I wasn't sure he would become a force, but I thought he had potential. This year, he's relatively non-existent, even when he is on the pitch. I can't figure out why he doesn't have any impact (not talking about goals, but even being involved in plays). I assume his injuries stopped any improvement.
Serna never struck me as being particularly fast, quick, or strong. And I suppose injuries don't help that any.
Just about every goal the guy has caught my attention, has he ever had anything but distant blasts that were always GOTW candidates? Otherwise I agree, he can disappear from games but still like him for a late game sub with that blast ability.
That was actually my point. Distant blasts that are few and far between.... luck? Getting my attention means making impact on games consistently. Don't see a lot between goals.

We had the biggest news in Denver history today.... ...Denver is on the short list for World Cup 2026 cities
