Here is what has been previously stated in NCAA Pre-Championship Manuals. I have deduced the point values associated, which change every year, and which I do not release. Why don't you release them? It's ludicrous that the NCAA uses a secret formula, that they then sometimes get wrong, and that fans such as you then have to correct for them. The more public scrutiny, the better, in my view. The reason I asked is that I want to project the final RPIs of some individual teams, but I can't do it without the bonus values ...
OK, that's your prerogative of course. Like so many others I greatly appreciate all your work in accumulating and analyzing the data.
Gaunchdan has given us some insight as to what the bonuses look like. With the amount of work put into this I can definitely apppreciate you wanting to protect your work.
Since expansion to 48 teams, how many champions have been seeded below #8? Ever. My question is not rhetorical; I am legitimately asking you scholars.
Top 8 seeds were first listed in 1997. Since then, Connecticut 2000, UCSB 2006, Indiana 2012, and Virginia 2014 were champions not in the top 8. http://fs.ncaa.org/Docs/stats/m_soccer_RB/2011/D1Brackets.pdf https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NCAA_Division_I_Men's_Soccer_Championship
I better do this before IO forget and the 2017season is over: Once again GauchoDan, excellent work all season long! Thanks for all your effort!
