Davies, technically yes. Pontius starts every single game but likes to not score on open goals

Is it weird that I can't actually remember him playing in a while?

You don't remember him heading a perfectly crossed ball wide left right before the half last week?

Pontius actually is 8th in the league for Assists this season......

Aguilar is described as a traditional No. 10, that also tracks back on defense as well. He looks like just what the Union needs. This would allow them to move Ilsinho back to the wing. Not sure what they'd do with Alberg for the rest of the season........

Any word on Edu EVER playing for the Union again?

Do we even want Ilsinho on the wing?

Anyone know when Aguilar could join the team? The transfer window does not open until July 10, but if it is a loan and not a transfer would he have to wait for the window to open?

I think even the loans need to wait for the window.

Some reports say a deal is already done. So he could be "on trial" simply as a means of letting him practice full-time with the Union until he's eligible for actual games.

Any player that had a contract with a team when the primary MLS window closed (early last month) has to wait until the secondary window to be registered. The can technically sign whenever they want but they can't be registered with the federation and can't appear in any competitive matches.

Question: Was Deshorn Brown out of contract? How can he play/be signed with DCU prior to the window opening?

He was traded from Tampa Bay but he shouldn't be eligible to play according to this:

    Player Acquisition Mechanisms
MLS teams may acquire players and add them to their rosters via the following mechanisms:

    Trades
Players, SuperDraft picks, General and Targeted Allocation Money, Allocation Rankings and International Player Slots may all be exchanged in trades approved by the MLS League Office, provided all of the necessary rules regarding roster and salary budget compliance are met and the trade is completed during a valid trading period.

Primary Transfer Window and Secondary Transfer Window
During the season trades that involve players must occur during either the Primary Transfer Window (2017: February 14 – May 8) or Secondary Transfer Window (2017: July 10 – August 9).

That is a within federation transfer. Those are handled by the rules of the federation itself. For instance, I'm pretty sure that loans in between teams in England aren't subject to the transfer window. I know that several Spanish teams made in federation deals outside of the transfer window. The transfer window is really the registration transfer window. FIFA regulates the registration of a player's pass between federations and only allows that to happen during specified time periods. Once a player is registered within a federation then it is up to the federation to set rules. It is why you see loans between MLS and USL teams at any point of the year.

Not a trade, it is a transfer because Tampa Bay isn't in MLS. There is nothing in the rules that says you can't add a player from the USL outside of the registration window. Closest you get is this: "The registration windows - the dates between which MLS may request the transfer certificate of a player under contract in another country". Since he is coming from within the USSF it is perfectly fine as long as it is within the USSF's rules. Also, note that I believe the Canadian teams have their players registered with the USSF so they can still do the same things a US team does during the season.

This has always been a question of mine ... not about Deshorn Brown specifically, but about the acqusition mechanisms in general.

SJE just signed a DP. Don't think he can play until window opens, when his ITC will be formally processed.

Soooo I assume this will fall through and once again the Union put all their eggs in this basket without a backup plan.

Just because our majority owner has alligator arms, a loan deal ≠ cheap.

It might make sense to move Marquez. There were rumblings about a Mexican team being interested. Yaro seems to be ahead of him at this point anyway.
